Dragonflight Gladiator Mount

The new artwork for the season 1 DF mount looks incredible. There is only one glaring issue that is throwing off the entire vibe, and that’s the awkward underbite chin strap thing that it’s got going on. Something proportionally needs to get updated as it looks very out of place. I’m not the only one who thinks this is an issue:

Can someone with beta access repost this information to that forum section for visibility? Maybe it can get to the correct eyeballs before it’s to late.

mount is fine.

Let them work on other things.

If you had xmog shoulders that weren’t lining up properly with the character model they would fix it, not sure how this is any different. The art department is entirely separated from the class / spec / dungeon and raid design team so it doesn’t detract from any other aspect of Dragonlands resources currently being utilized.

These mounts, much like many of the AOTC and Mythic last boss mounts, are meant to be a polished mark of quality.

Difference is this is a stylistic choice.

Deathwing had the same underbite armor going on albeit without the teeth protruding further.

The difference is shoulders not lining up would be a bug, while this is clearly the intended design of the mount. If you don’t like it then don’t use it :man_shrugging:

Ooh that looks nice! Would be a perfect mount for a warrior in mage tower armor.

LOL, that mount looks hilarious. I’d use it all day just for the derp vibe it gives off.

HAHAHAHAH!

It looks ridiculous!

That’s what feedback during an Alpha / Beta are for. It’s not just about testing bugs, builds, or mechanics. It’s about the game as a whole.

The entire M+ community rallied behind not liking the art direction of the S4 mount color scheme and they actually changed it to the current gold/purple from the previous design. All I want is a few more eyeballs on it before they ship it “as is” without a second thought of maybe scaling down the chin strap 30-50%.

Right, after the underbite comparison I’ll never be able to take it seriously.

To the other posters above, this is what I’m talking about.

Overall it’s a gorgeous model and very well designed, but it’s kind of like Leonardo deciding to give the Mona Lisa a giant weird hat after nailing every other aspect of the painting.

You’re getting this mount and all others are going to be just differing colorations for other seasons. I’d wager why blizz changed is because they got complaints from someone who was doing m+ and happened to see that thread that night which had the exact color idea we eventually got.

Also didn’t blizz say this or the dragonriding mounts were going to have armor/mog variations based upon glad feats?

Maybe it’s what they want because they have plans on one class being wildly OP. Maybe they want that broken class on this S1 mount so they can show they derped their way to the top? Would be a 200 IQ move imo.

Just imagine hundreds of Evoker players (or whatever class/spec is broken) running around on this mount. Would be a quality troll by Blizz.

There’s not a gladiator mount, it’s a customization for the new Dragon riding mount system, the example show on the beta is just for one dragon model.

From what I understand all of the individual armor pieces will be transmoggable to our personal choice of Dragonriding dragon. This model is the “complete” static version that will be usable outside of Dragonlands.

Wrong. This is the static completed model that is the same as every other gladiator mount. This is what we will be riding in every other continent.

Yeah that’s what it was. Sort of thought it would have been weird to give like only 1 glad mount and just have the customization built off that. Was thinking like legion artifact skins and colorations but for each element of the mount.

Those complaints weren’t about the art direction, they were about the S4 mount being identical to (or at least indistinguishable from) a previous season’s mount.

It will never not be unseen.

Right… like the S1 and S4 gladiator mount from BFA where they never changed the color scheme despite us telling them it’s pretty much the same mount? Change is change my friend, color is still art.

I wouldn’t be so sure about that. They are only just now getting around to fixing Orc shoulders.
