My hopes and dreams aren’t the ones being shattered because I can’t use my regular mounts. I’m very much looking forward to the new system and something different.

You know, this is where I don’t get the disconnect. I am fine with something new and different as long as it doesn’t replace what I already have.
If I want to go to McDOnalds (Blizzard) to get a Big Mac (play WoW) don’t change the secret sauce or turn the burgers into chicken patties. By all means add a chicken sandwich, but don’t remove the reason I am going there. If I wanted a Whopper (GW2 flying with no WoW flying) I would go to Burger King
It’s either this or no flying at all in the beginning. The past 2 expansions have literally been no flying. I’ll take what I can get at this point seeing blizzies track record.

When they get away from the multi-level map design with "one true path ™ ’ I might care less about flying. It wasn’t a major issue for me until WoD when they changed the way they design the small vertical maps

Bliz track record here is WHY some of us are getting irritated about this announcement.
IF Ion had a great history of making the game great and NOT ticking player off and having to perpetually come back apologizing and promising to listen next time,…IF that were the case, I think we’d look at the Wowhead comment as very suspicious.
But given Ions ‘track record’ it actually fits the ongoing passive aggression against flight and players who like it narrative.

If you keep your flying the game continues to suck. If blizzard evolves flying past what we had in 2007 the game has a chance to become more than a world quest simulator. I am right, you are wrong. That is the bottom line.

You are so deep in Bobby Kotick’s maze you can not even see a way out. That is a problem. You don’t want new flying because you think it’s bad. You want to keep old flying because you think it’s good.
You are correct. The flying we have now is good. It’s really good. It’s overpowered. It’s so overpowered it has completely taken over every single aspect of open world design in the game. It’s become so ubiquitous you can’t even see how its absence in return for a more interactive, engaging form of flight could improve the game.
In essence, you’re a trained animal and you don’t even realize it.
99% of the time when you see that in here its the gankers who cant compete in REAL world pvp against GOOD players getting upset that flight lets their lowbie gank victims have a way to get away lol

I am fine with new flying - this is what you don’t understand
I know it’s good for the way I play the game. I am tired of loosing good things for stuff that ends up being much worse for no reason. Like Water striders. We lost something many of us wanted and replaced with an inferior system, when they simply could have left the water strider alone (like they did shredders) and just add the new system - but they couldn’t. I can’t say why, I could imply like everyone else here does, but all I know it’s looks petty - like you wanting your flying while at the same time demanding mine be removed. I want to try both and maybe keep the best if we have to choose.
I keep hearing you say thins, but all I keep saying is I wan 4th map designs back from Vanilla - you know, before there was flying. How is my flying destroying something that existed before flying?
