When you create an item that has a special ability whose method of obtaining it is a reputation grind, and then decide to take it away for no real logical reason, its a sign of a team of developers that lack any real insight on how players feel about such things.
Of itself, sure, its no big deal. But they do this sort of thing all the time; create neat things then decide at some future stage its not good and change it. I have seen it done so very many times and every time it grates, its the game example of a nail on blackboard. Its a deep lack of their insight into player mentality.
Ion seems to have this idea that he knows what is best for everyone. That would be fine if he had his finger on the pulse of what players feel is best for everyone, but he doesnât. He makes changes for his own reasons and not for ours. I mean, his logic for taking out the water walking was that for some reason it wasnât a good idea if everyone used it to ride on water. Well gosh mate, wasnt that the reason it was created in the first place?
If itâs anything like GW2âs griffon and skyscale it will be fine. The only people left whining will be those who spent 400 dollars on store mounts. I really donât care what they say.
Truth is, it was put in by devs who knew it was fun, and it was removed by a guy who counts the seconds you play, and swimming is slower than water walking.
They did that in TBC. Guess what. It was boring. You just unlock the ability to go there. No big deal at all. It didnât add anything interesting to the game. You just got to noclip through the sky to get to tempest keep. Whoopie!
This dragon flight mechanic sucks for those who have special needs. There a re a lot of special needs players who rely on simple basic flight to get form point A to Point B. They donât need to be hitting the space bar at a certain time, angling down slopes and doing strafing runs. I myself have a 2 passenger mount so that I can assist with a family member who needs help. Those will no longer work in Dragon Isles from what I read. No mounts other then the dragons inherit to the isles will work this expansion in the air. If thatâs the case then this a deal breaker for a lot of reasons for a lot of people. I didnât spend extra money buying the mounts from the online store and doing r-a-f for them to be completely useless in a complete expansion.
Dragon Riding looks more fun and engaging than autorunning over the entire zone doing chores. Iâm not budging on this. Youâre wrong. I am right. End of story.
I play several MMOs on stream. I want WoW to steal the best ideas from all of them because the gameâs combat is already the best. Everything else sucks. Especially traversal. Reality can be whatever I want and because of people like you I am manifesting trueflight into every future WoW expansion until the heat death of the universe. Your ideas are weak, and there is nothing you can do to stop me.
WoW was MADE TO BE AN EASY GAME by dev who raided in EQ and said âImagine how much better this could be if it wasnât so hardcore?â
I came from EQ and liked it for itâs setting over Warcraft, but it was stupid hard. I took my 25 year old son to P99 who thought Vanilla was hard and he couldnât believe how hard P99 was. Then we tried the AlâKabor projectâŚ
Everyone of the counter-flying folks argue that flying ruins gameplay. As if you could actually do anything in game from the sky. (herbing might be the only exception and maybe it should be nerfed).
Otherwise, WoW can only be played from the ground, and you need to land sometime in order to do anything.
So sure, dragon flying may be a new fun way to fly ⌠maybe they shouldâve taken that approach from the get-go rather than removing flying with every xpac only to add it back in after some annoying grind.
