Any chance they will put Regular flying in DF along with Dragon Riding? Or are they afraid too many people will ditch DR like I would. The vigor or whatever it’s called runs out too fast. I always end up hearthing and using FP. It’s a waste of time I can’t even use my flying mounts that I collected. I flipping hate dragon riding.
I’ve been told by various people that they plan to add it eventually, though none have linked the post where Blizz said it.
They are not killing traditional flying and it will be implemented later on.
I can fly from the lowest point on the isles to the highest point on the isles without ever landing, with no dragonriding talents unlocked, if I am careful. With them all unlocked, I have never once run out of vigor.
In one of the interviews with ion he stated regular flying will come eventually like it has been since wod but dragonriding is the main focus and its a lot better than flying anyway. So much quicker.
If you dont care for leveling quick to get to end game quicker you can dragonride around the whole place and collect the points to unlock the entire tree for dragonriding at level 60
Just find tokens. The first 4 talents make it much better to use.
Theres also achievements that unlock stuff which i think come from leveling that make it easier.
Its way faster but i went over the edge of the east side of the island which is a huge cliff and was basically stuck
Also, they added in QOL to dragonriding if you’re near a glyph there will be a system in place yelling it out to you. (I know this cause I have beta don’t believe me I have posted/commented some beta threads)
Some of the beta folks have recommended a flight-sim style addon that helps you track if you’re angling up or down. Search some other threads on this subject for lots of other good advice on flying without losing vigor, and people stubbornly providing video proof that it really is possible.
I’m not on beta myself but reading about it, sounds like a lot of people’s trouble is just ‘not doing it right’ lol.
I just want to know if Evoker/Dracthyr will ever be able to regular fly on their own?
Downloading add-ons to make sure we are flying properly? Sounds great. Thanks for sharing that suggestion.
Just an additional option to help someone who is struggling with the system. Would it be nice if Blizz included that in the base UI? Absolutely … but that’s a different conversation.
But okay, be a sarcastic heel to someone just trying to be nice, that’s always a good look.
Dragon Riding is great, you just need addons for the following:
- Altimeter
- Airspeed
- Turn Indicator
- Heading Indicator
- Artificial Horizon
- Autopilot Speed
- Compass
- Fuel Gage
- Fuel Pressure
- Battery Power

It’s a single line that shows if you’re aimed above or below the horizon line. You’re literally freaking out about a huge nothingburger lol.
Ah I forgot the button to summon your Kyrian Steward to bring you hot coffee and a snack
Here’s a video showing you how many addons and how your UI should look if you want to maintain 100% perma flying. Any more UI or addons than this is overkill.
Looks a little wonky flapping sideways while climbing straight up, but wow, i haven’t seen any of the dragon riding yet, thats neat
I expect it to show up eventually, probably in 10.2 or 10.3, like it has in prior expansions.
In the meantime, outside of mining/herbing, dragonriding, once trained and glyphed, is far superior to “regular” flying in every way. (For an example, dragonriding goes about 3 times as fast once you get up to speed…)
That’s how I figured it’s gonna be for the first 24 hours and than I hit max level and find tons of reasons to hate the game and talk down upon on it on the forums and unsub and say how I knew the game was not going to be good like the last 4 xpacks. but who knows maybe THIS time I’ll be wrong. Ha, we can only wish. The day they give me my pvp servers back I’ll consider being happy.
