"Dragon Isles Adventuring: Being Yourself"

Are you serious? I have to do a bunch of other unrelated quests in order to just interview somebody for 30 seconds? This is the dumbest questline I think I have seen to date.
Why? Why do I need to do a bunch of other quests just to be able to talk the npc?
And it’s a retroactive thing. Unless you did these quests before, you now have to do them. It’s just silly. It’s the principle of the matter. It just wastes even more of my time with quests that I clearly didn’t want to do.

Or, is this just part of the quest and the npcs just happen to all be busy and have other quests for you to do? Either way it’s just plain silly and feels like they are padding the gameplay time spent doing nothing for nothing.

I know, I know…I’m an elitist.

But the forums never stop surprising me. I would have never guessed that there were so many people who didn’t do the side quests and main quests on at least one character.

What are the quest that need to be completed before this new one?

For what it’s worth, I really enjoyed the simple questing associated with that one. It was a fun minor bit of world building. However, I had done all the story-line quests prior so maybe that was the prerequisite?

by the time I got to Thaldrazus, I was so worn out on all the tedious quests they implimented that I had no desire to even finish.
I have almost max rep with every faction, I know the overarching story…I have zero need to go talk to every single solitary side character on every one of my characters because not all quest progress is shared.

I think this is a character based quest so if your alt does it then guess what! Many quests ahead!

Also there are SO MANY QUESTS in dragonflight you will outlevel them and not need the rewards so quickly. They’re not even great for gaining rep in many cases.

Oh no the game forces players to engage with the game in order to do something completely optional and strictly for vanity purposes.

The only issue is that you need to have done some of the side quests on the toon you’re using to unlock the tabard. If you do it on a newer toon then some of the npcs you need to talk to won’t engage with you. At least the one by the time rift area won’t, didn’t test it out on any of the others. Just switched to a toon that did the quests and ez pz lemon squeezy.

if only I knew which one had done any of it. I have one of each class and they all do different stuff.

Also, now the second npc dissapeared as I clicked to turn the quest in…

Completely unrelated to anything about the thread:

I suddenly am desperate for a Dracthyr reporter and a Gnome in a Flying Machine with a Goblin on the camera doing interviews on the street of random PCs and NPCs. Make them super-bubbly and enthusiastic to report for the Dragon Isle News!

do it. make a video and put it on youtube.

I’ve made sure to do all side quests and main quests since… forever… I did lack in this expansion, general disinterest. Blizz is usually good with Sidequests, but despite the emotionally driven Sidequests, I was unimpressed.

Optional quests are optional. While the vast majority of the side quests are quite excellent, some contain content folks would rather just pass on. No one cares when it’s optional, but this “Being Yourself” quest makes those side quests mandatory.

This all has a simple solution - I personally just opted out and left Emberthal to her own decisions, the reward isn’t sufficiently valuable.

It’s just a meh questline that just has you flying around for a few minutes and gives you a cool personal (albeit outdated design options) tabard.

No big deal

It doesn’t surprise me too much that some players skipped some side quests but I am surprised they’re treating it like a game breaking issue for there to be a reward associated with those quests. Even saw someone call it a bug

It is a game breaking issue.
Every single one of the quest givers, for me, have been bugged for this questline. They all want me to “help them with other matters first” and then i do the quests…and they dissapear or still say they need help.

It’s the most inconvenient quest in the game. Already opened a ticket about it. Seriously, I have “talked” aka did the quests for 5 of them but only get to interview 3 because they all keep bugging out. I tried reloading, relogging…disabling addons even lol.

So yeah, it is a pain in the but to have to come back to do quests that are busted or broken npcs. If I could add screenshots, I would lol.

That sucks, like they still won’t let let you do the tabard quest after finishing the side quests? Nice blizzard lol :expressionless:

Its not even let, the npcs just won’t talk to me after I help them lol, they just keep telling me they need help no matter what I do or they just flat out dissapear.
On the other side of this, its hilarious though. Funny to watch what is happening as it happens.

Here is where the divergence occurs. There are a metric ton of people who don’t care about the rep and the gear and all that. They want to do quests for any number of reasons. Maybe they are super invested int eh story. Maybe they are a completionist and their version of fun is doing everything. Maybe they want to play but don’t have the ability to invest their full attn to the game atm.

I get that many people don’t see any of that as fun. What I don’t get is, what don’t you understand about ‘your fun =/= everybody elses fun’?

I never said that it was?

I am pointing why people who might have wanted to do THIS quest might never have done all the quests that you need to clear to complete it.

Folks who only ever did the main story might look at this, realize that they can’t complete it without doing a bunch of things they had decided not to do ages ago, and get frustrated.

…Yes.

I need this in my life.

That’s counter intuitive to an open world RPG. One of the pillars of an World-based RPG is investigation and discovery. Finding things you’ve never seen before because the world is so big and there’s so much to do. Everything doesn’t have to be streamlined with big arrows and highlights to show you exactly what to do.

If you only do the MSQ the you are voluntarily missing out on the side stuff … This applies to all quests, including this one.
