Lothraxion class changed into a paladin due to that process though, if his character abilities are anything to go by.
he doesn’t appear to have access to any of his former corruption-flavored abilites most dreadlords seem to possess.

True, but then again, his mission was to infiltrate the Light, so I can’t imagine him continuing to corrupt enemies with shadow magic or summon demons would’ve done anything to help him with that.
Remains to be seen, really. Now that we know the Dreadlords all come from the Shadowlands and they have a shared purpose, who’s to say he can’t still use those abilities, but simply doesn’t because it’d be counterintuitive to his purpose?
Its not as if being Lightforged prevents Lightforged Draenei Death Knights from using any of their dark abilities, after all.
And he acted rashly and instinctually and quickly went buddy buddy.
He didn’t even say “Bad illidan, no bad demon elf!”
Could have ASKED him to leave. Like he could’ve said no and they would’nt have been able to force him out but after the attack everyone singing ring around the rosies.
Do whatever you wish. It doesn’t impact me. No reason for you to explain the method of your communication to me however.
Whilst true, the same can be said for shadow, fel, and void, as the nathrezim are apparently aligned with death. The same text also mentions that consuming fel is unpleasant, so their carrion swarms, shadow bolts, etc may be a byproduct of their infiltration into other cosmic forces, as opposed to their baselines as well.
It being counterintuitive would be reliant on the light forged being intolerant of alternative sources of power. Whilst this makes sense, it also implicitly acknowledges that showing such powers in front of the lightforged is a risky move at best.
An oddity, but you could probably point to them as the inverse of Calia. Unfortunately, there is no explanation proffered by blizzard for LFD dk’s.
Buddy buddy? they were never particularly close even before this, let alone after.
No, his comment is different, more nuanced. Illidan rubbed off on him, hence why i do not believe draenei warlocks are apostate, merely the lightforged ones.

The response was grim, or shocked. Painting the aftermath as rosy isn’t accurate. The only thing cutting the tension was that the follow-up quest beginning the assault on Antorus itself, and Turalyon remains grim and quiet at the end of that quest chain.
And this is why people who care about the lore lose. “Moar classes, moar races” also adds to Blizzard’s bottom line.
Capitalism wins again!
The very idea of “apostate” means it’s possible. Maybe not tolerated. But possible.
naw this would happen either way. It’s not about profit it’s about logic.
I’d assume warrior considering his move set in the End Times dungeon.
lol Thrall hasn’t been a shaman since Blizzard did him dirty in Legion with his pity-party over killing Garrosh. If he was going to be that hung up over killing essentially Orc Hitler, then the Doomhammer was right to abandon him and chose the Farseer (aka the PC shaman).
Sire Denathrius made the Nathrezim and fed them fel to turn them into demons…
So they are naturally creatures of both death and fel. And they also use magics of the other cosmic forces they infiltrate.
Lorthraxion thus uses death (born with), fel - turned to demon, and light which he embraced to infiltrate the light.
As suggested from lore books. So hybrid creatures exist. If he is infiltrating and gaining trust of the light… he would hinder himself from casting the other magics and hide his loyalties. He also doesn’t chat much to the PC.
Note that Sire Denathrius is a eternal one and basically god level sort of knowledge on stuff like cosmic forces. The shadowlands magic lore suggests that all the cosmic magical forces were once all one thing and then separated into 6. Which the first ones lore and the zereth realms explore. The fundemental magics of the universe. And how they were crafted into the realms and stuff we know now.
If these 6 forces were all one at once it means all the magic in the game is mixable since they were all needed to be one force at the beginning.
We are just mortals stuck between wars and have been mostly informed through the arcane realms with lore based on titans. And we see lore told by shadow and death forces in current expansions.
The way the story is told there are a bunch of unreliable narrators. The forces of azeroth and cosmic forces share there own propaganda. As we see how Odyn decided to spread info (explaining retcons). And we have seen each force of cosmic force be able to corrupt/ have evil intentions.
The light has reached out to loa (beings of nature). Beings of arcane (Tyr) Death (seems like shadowlands has been ordered). We titans try to bind life. Life and Death mixed to ressurect Calia Menethil. Sargeras himself is a hybrid being of arcane and fel. We saw how they forced Argus to be a being of arcane and death. Tyr seems to choose arcane and light. We have hybrid beings like the Winterqueen who is of death and nature that shares connections with life.
Light and fel is a new combo we are seeing but we have seen stuff like Shivarra using holy magics to heal like in the BC raid. I speculate we may see more hybrid creatures of fel since chaos is a nice thing to taint the other forces with. And lore explored how light and shadow clashed and in came the fel.
Apostate also means cutting contacts with that particular faction. Current NPC dialogue indicates tolerance.
As previously mentioned, one crux of the issue lies not in that the combinations are accessible, but that the reasons given are insufficient, and, in the case of LFD, possibly worse than offering no explanation whatsoever.
That’s a gameplay versus lore thing that will never, ever be addressed. You’re asking for something that should exist for all locks, dks, dh, and probably rogues. Where they are disliked or hated by their factions and unable to go higher but can still get quests because they’re needed.
People tolerate these apostates because they don’t have a choice.
The reason given is free will.
LFD come with previous baggage, most of it voluntary, though that same free will, some of it, a grey area due to the lightforging process. Your LFD will have followed a fairly defined path to becoming one. This is a far cry from almost any other race, save worgen and forsaken.
It should also be noted that free will cannot affect how others react to your actions. Freedom to do what you want is not freedom from consequences. a LFD is free to dabble, their compatriots are free to exile, imprison, kill, or let them go. Although generally speaking, the latter is the least likely as a whole.
for perspective, an eredar in the presence of sargeras (pre seal), is free to reject his gift. This will usually result in a swift and unpleasant conclusion.
The implementation is already there, if sparse. Dk’s with the undead mount flying to Alexstraza have already had a taste. LFD and void elves also experience this when entering the church in Stormwind.
But the dialogue is lore v lore. the handling of LFD warlocks that are not the super special player character is something that can be handled better.
I would say, just death, as fel appears as foreign a force to them as light.
Interestingly enough, its an opposing canon to the shadowlands canon.
Shadowlands canon suggests one originating force, however, the lore explaining the creation of fel posits that original, singular force was light, then void.
It would be, probably, best to consider both theories partially true, if you subscribe to unreliable narration.
The assumption that the process is 2-way is possible, but unconfirmed. the fact that the initial force split into 6 also seems to indicate that it isn’t the most stable of forces, indicating incompatibility in at least some aspects of the original force.
i miss that npc he was a cool dude
I still dont understand why people care about this so much, if you grew up or lived in one space with a mage for 20 years, guess what. you would prolly learn a thing or two about the school of magic. Your own faction wont deny you the ability to learn due to your race.
They seem to think their race will lynch them if they dare begin to practice a taboo class.
lol right? no one rememebers being a child and oppressive? If I was a lightforged drenai child I wouldnt want to listen to my parents either and go rogue on them.
That would just be draenei. LFD aren’t born lightforged, as the recruitment scenario shows.
The parents can be, and the parents can also preassure the tiny child to be like them.
It is also important, I feel, to point out that class-race combos in World of Warcraft were never restricted due to racial cultures.
Warriors as one example, was denied Blood Elves early on, even though we have seen High Elven and Blood Elven footmen like troops in the past - which are old representatives of warriors.
Hunters as another example have been denied many races for a long time, even though all races would have some kind of marksmen units, making race with gun/bow a rather valid connection.
One should also mention, that being a warlock is not a cultural norm in any of the races that currently have access to them. Rather, they have always been a disliked abnormality. So the restriction is not based on culture at all.
The restrictions have always been artificial and not very logical.
