Is there any reason why this combo is not a thing? I mean I would in a heart beat play one.
I just hate male night elf long gorilla arms, the models look so awful.
Alliance should get Draenei and horde Orc (I suppose )
Sorry for the rant, but just confused why itâs so limited.

Thereâs literally zero reasoning or sense in such combinations. DHs are elves only because thats an established lore, go to black temple and look around outside. They would look so clunky. Play a female NE, they look pretty fantastic.
Secondly, Draenei are quite literally all about the light, never would one ever choose to be a demon hunter bathed in fel and demonic energies. (Im sure itâll be brought up but Eredar are a completely separate matter.)

Kinda a fire with fire thing like illidan did.
Female night elves do have a great model, but as a guy I find it difficult to get immersed if Iâm playing a female toon.
So much of the lore kinda has been thrown around at this point I feel they might as well let loose the restrictions.

They did let loose with the DK because it makes sense that anyone can be raised into undeath. Not everyone can become a Demon Hunter, aside from that, there may also âtechnicallyâ be limitations to creating new demon hunters. There is no more burning legion since they were dealt with, so that avenue is technically closed.
Illadin got his power from somewhere (sargeras) and so forth. Illadin is gone now.

Illidan chose fire with fire because he isnât from a race that worships the light almost fanatically. The Draenei only embraced shamanism and the elements because Velen prophesised such a thing. Thatâs the closest youâll get to them straying from the Light.
Sure, especially with Death Knights Blizzard have let loose, but that involves just being raised into undeath. There are some classes that anyone can be, like a Warrior, but a Demon Hunter has a very specific set of circumstances for them to have existed. Not everyone can be a Druid, thatâs why Blizz came up with the Thornspeakers. Night Elves banned magecraft, and it took until Cata for them to soften up on it, and only then could there be Night Elf mages. They created the Sunwalkers to explain why Tauren can be âpaladinsâ. Some race-class combos just wonât happen.
And besides that⌠why would they keep recruiting? Theyâve won. The Legion is bested, thereâs no need for more Demon Hunters. Theyâre liabilities, ticking time bombs that could fall for demonic whispers any day now.
If demons make a return, it would make sense for the illidari to want to recruit more members to their ranks.
Right now, Weâre entering the shadowlands. Why would someone go through the torturous process of becoming a demon hunter when there arenât any demons? People became demon hunters because their family / friends / homes were wiped out and they wanted revenge on the burning legion. The burning legion is defeated
Uhhh, draenei can use magics outside of Light - they can be mages, shammies, monks, and DKs. Those arenât all about the light.
Orcs and Draenei had their planet partially destroyed by the Burning Legion. They have plenty of reason to want to be DHs.
My belf DHâs Orb Of Deception turns him into a Draenei, and it actually looks fantastic as a DH. I use it all the time. (Yes, I have more than 1 DH - I have 3, and it will be 4 when 9.0 hits.)
Remember when we defeated Illidan? Or Ragnaros? Or Onyxia? Or Nefarian? Or Queen Azshara?
Death and defeat are never permanent in the Warcraft verse.
Maybe for the same reason they become a mage or a warlock: itâs a means to an end. It gives them a method to fight whatever needs to be defeated. Demon hunters were originally used in the fight against the Legion, but since their reintroduction, they have fought more than just demons. Paladins have fought more than just the scourge. Just because one enemy is defeated (with a big fat question mark) doesnât mean there arenât more enemies out there.
Arthas was defeated. Does that mean we donât need DKs and Pallies anymore?

Iâve always been into the idea of draenei/orc demon hunters and it seems the most logical choice given the fact that illidan had broken & fel orcs in his army

right, thatâs why i said
itâs a unique process to defeat demons. There arenât any demons to defeat. It wouldnât make sense to become a demon hunter when there arenât any demons to hunt.
We went through it cause there were demons to hunt. Until there are demons to hunt, there donât need to be more demon hunters

Actually, We killed the legion leadership and put the entire thing in a power vacuum there are still PLENTY of demons left, They did go on a multi planet genocidal join us or die kind of spree afterall.
As for Draenei the reason why is the draenei are hard opposed against the legion they arenât about to bathe in the demonic power that makes a demon hunter and endure the binding ceremony.
Orc Demon hunters would make sense however.
This has been part of the problems I have with Blizzard introducing new hero classes - or even new classes at all - since the day DKs came about in WotLK⌠donât get me wrong, I LOVE playing them, and they all have good stories when they are relevant⌠but then Blizzard just straight-up forgets about them sometimes, and it feels like the class isnât even a thing anymore⌠one of the reasons why Legion was such a great expansion was that, besides officially introducing DH, all the other classes had their order halls, spotlight moments⌠and the story actually made them relevant again! What a concept!
Back in WotLK and Cataclysm specifically - I would level to 58 on my DK, go into OUTLAND, and just sit there in Hellfire Peninsula atop the Dark Portal staircase wondering⌠WHY?! I would then slog through 58-68, take the first boat / portal to Northrend, and just try to pretend BC never happened in my DKâs leveling experience⌠before the Legion expansion, I never in a million years thought DKs would have any major arcs in fighting the forces of Sargeras⌠what a pleasant surprise that was, and how Blizzard made the lore actually work about itâŚ
They need to try and have cohesive narratives for ALL class storylines, which is then UPDATED even with new expansion stories⌠like seriously, WTF are the Illidari even doing after Legion? Where were ANY ILLIDARI NPCS in any of BFA?! Hell, WRATHION of all people got waaaaay more lore than Akama did this expansion! You wanna talk about how much BFA sucked in general? Thatâs nice, but honestly, THAT was my main gripe with it⌠they left all the class lore building to the wayside in favor of Fourth War storylines, and wherever else the narrative went when the writers got high⌠againâŚ
How about this: Weâve dismantled the Burning Legion leadership, but there are still plenty of sargerite draenei out there who were empowered by the legion and good at using their methods (eredar demon-not-hunters). Literally the only piece of lore that needs to be written for a group of these folks to join the illidari (or whatever) is a reason for it to happen. Joined the Legion under duress? Thought the eredar were doomed? Just plain opportunistic?
Side note: We know quite little about Argus/Eredar history prior to the fall. Argus shows us that Velen left people behind when he fled the planet, and while he was a devout follower of the light there were definitely other viewpoints.
So, before I make my point, allow me to preface this by saying that I do not disagree; Draenei should not be able to be Demon Hunters, given the very specific requirements involved. Now on to the point:
DH need not remain not elf only going forward. There are human and orc Demon Hunters in lore, though they are very few in number and did not make an appearance in World of Warcraft at all outside one or two brief mentions. They could conceivably allow humans, orcs, and potentially even trolls (given that Zandalari had Demoniacs, which are functionally identical in most ways, long before elves even existed) to access the class if they wanted to expand on the lore just a bit.
Other races can be demon hunters if demons are once again an actual threat.
Hereâs why elves became demon hunters:
Their family, their friends, their homes, everything was wiped out by the burning legion.
They had nothing else to live for, and they believed illidan when he told them that if they donât understand the legionâs power, and actually use it against them, the Legion will wipe out everything.
So:
- nothing left to lose
- fate of the world on the line
You need these conditions to justify us recruiting more demon hunters. Otherwise, it makes no sense for anyone to go through the process. You literally eat a demon heart and stab out your own eyes.
Think Iâd rather be a warrior, or a monk. Anything else, really.
So if blizzard throws in a whole thing about demons coming back into power, I guess
But I think most people would be like âthis song and dance again?â
Almost any race can be a dh. Just has to make sense.
Although, a Draenei dh would be a meme more than anything
Some trolls even had their own warglaives⌠shadow hunters? Suuuuure, whatever they wanna call themselves⌠during the Fourth War, I was a squid hunter! /FlamingGreenEyeroll
On a more serious note, I would love for them to make two new allied races that can become DH⌠imagine Drakkari trolls and Vrykul as Demon Hunters!
Iâd love draenei and orc dhs since these races were some of the main ones fighting the legion. And also because draenei is my favourite race. Eredar customisations for draenei would be amazing
Agreed thatâs what I was thinking.
Any race can be a demon hunter. We already have models in the game for fel corrupted orcs, high mountain tauren, night elves, nightborne, you name it. In particular the fel totem and red demonic draeni looked really cool in legion.
The only issue with other races being demon hunters is you need to buy the next burning legion expansion (or pre-order it for early access like shadowlands). Unfortunately, that expansion hasnât been announced yet, but I think itâs safe to say the burning legion will return to Azeroth. Itâs completely reasonable for Xalâatath to travel to Antorus to have a talking to with Sargeras, Illidan, and the Titans. I can imagine a light themed expansion where Yrel invades and we need the aid of the legion, titans, and even the void lords to stop them. Thereâs a million different ways they can spin the lore. Especially if Tyrande dies from that nightwarrior thing⌠pretty sure that would enrage Illidan to the point of recruiting more demon hunters.
Until then, iâd rather resources be focused on improving the class. Itâs never been fully developed since legion because it was built around the artifact weapons and it relied on borrowed power in BFA. Like, letâs get some compelling talent choices and a few extra abilities first.
Good point
For the same reason you donât have Draenei warlocks even thought the have some of the most powerful mages in lore. Draenei = no fel
The Draenei âDHâ already exists, it is called Army of the Light. Bunch of guys/gals that had nothing to lose, planet being exploded and stuff and voluntereed to be infused by the light.
