If I cast Soar on my Evoker with Steady Flight activated, he just kinda floats back down to the ground and cancels flight; seems like he should hover at the apex of the initial leap from Soar.
The only way to stay in the air after casting Soar is to activate glide / jump , which works, it’s just kinda silly Soar isn’t enough.
Yes. It is completely broken right now. I think it just really hates lag, and if you have even a tiny bit, it doesn’t work. I have to try like 10 times before I’m able to use steady flight, which wouldn’t be a BIG issue if Soar didn’t have a 10 second cooldown, which is unnecessary to begin with.
here to report that I have the same problem. just hopes up and falls right back down, even after pressing glide whilst in mid air, I still fall down; and the soar button gets stuck on toggle on mode, you would have to click it again for it to go away to enable the cooldown tot start.
Three months later and this still happens. It doesn’t happen all the time, but with the cooldown, it gets very annoying, very quickly.
same issue on my Derg war. I race changed my vulpera into a drakthyr. issue is as OP sez. Sometimes he takes flight, sometimes he floats back down. the soar does not toggle off automatically it has to be manually toggled off to be re-cast. I’ve also experienced falling through the floor and then being teleported back into the air. My first thought was lag, but averaging around 72ms home and world sides
Click Soar>>>>char jumps up>>>> floats back down>>>goes through the floor>>>>is immediately teleported back into the air>>>>floats down and lands on the ground
I’ve experienced none of this is dynamic flight (dragon riding) is enabled
They actually screwed this up worse than ever. 9 out of 10 tries today to Soar with Dynamic Flight even, I floated 3 inches off the ground and then failed. I can spam space bar to take off but that wastes Vigor. Soar is doubly broken as of today Oct 28 (although may have something to do with the secrets anniversary event where the fails took place more often than just flying around TWW).
Can confirm. Did you guys make Soar a gnomish engineering skill? This thing fails 80% of the time. It’s nuts. If it’s gonna be so unreliable… at least lower the cooldown to like 3 seconds… So I don’t have to ponder money poorly spent for 10 full seconds.
I noticed this as well. Didn’t really have this issue at all until the last few days.
Same here, take off the CD at least but in a perfect world…fix it altogether
Regarding Dynamic Flying, it is absolutely an interaction with the Idol of Ohn’ahra, the Torch of Pyrreth, or the Secrets of Azeroth questline that prevents Dracthyr from successfully casting Soar.
Update: It’s the Idol, 100%. When you mount, the Idol buff gets removed, but casting Soar does not remove the buff so your takeoff fails. Right click the buff off you before casting Soar.
