Steady Flight Soar

If I cast Soar on my Evoker with Steady Flight activated, he just kinda floats back down to the ground and cancels flight; seems like he should hover at the apex of the initial leap from Soar. The only way to stay in the air after casting Soar is to activate glide / jump , which works, it’s just kinda silly Soar isn’t enough.
