Dracthyr rant

This is going to be a rant I apologize in advance if I offend people or whatnot.

I simply do not understand why Blizzard would use the Dracthyr a sickly bastardized creation by Deathwing (probably most of the black dragon flight) when Blizzard already has the dragonspawn four and two-legged models in every flight. Then to boot only give them one class to play. When the dragonspawn we have seen be a few different classes. To me, this is an example of laziness on Blizzard’s part. This is also why to me this race and class don’t seem that appealing to even play.

Look I get it, it is great that we are going back to Azeroth and we are going to play with dragons. I get that and I am all excited about this new expansion. I am just wondering why would you even introduce a race of science experiments when really it would be better to use the models we all have fought against and at times even worked with for decades now in blasted lands, burning steeps, feralas, dragonblight, dungeons, and raids.

Another thing, why only humans or elves can this class transform into? I get that the black dragon flight uses those forms a lot yet if these science experiments were essentially the combining of every dragon flight wouldn’t it stand to reason that they could transform into any race they choose. Especially since Blizzard is on this kick of giving players freedom of choice in what we do in our gaming experience.

Anyways, I apologize if this does sound harsh its just baffles me about this. Either way, I do hope people enjoy this new race and class.

I don’t think anyone cares as much as you about weird dragon lore. Lots of more important things to worry about in life these days, maybe go outside?

I’d say that I think that they thought that the Dracthyr would have wider appeal since they can be relatively cute but then they locked it to one class so… honestly? I don’t really know what they were thinking.

I really like the Dracthyr though.

It’s not about “weird dragon lore” as being accurate to the lore that is surviving in-game.

Exactly, weird dragon lore.

I just want to not look like a twink when I’m playing a dragon, GIVE me a beefy boi option.

Their thinking was almost certainly that the existing dragonkin have almost always been utilized as infantry units, and the intent was for their new Dracthyr to be utilized in a more specialized capacity — something smarter, faster, superior.

That’s fine, commendable even, but they swung that pendulum so far towards intellectualism that the result is something that hardly even looks draconic at all. At the very least they need to adjust the textures such that the muscularity is much more pronounced.

Well, I found half that equation:

(Note: This pic started out as a joke but has grown more serious as I posted it in as an example of a shapely female form in other threads so I am going to add the following disclaimer: They wouldn’t even have to have the breasts, given so many people are (understandably) critical of mammary glands on a reptile, the clearly female shape is enough for me.)

Sooo it is lazy creating an entire new race instead of just using older models… I see i see…

Most of the dragons we know off transform into Human or Elf shape…

Also you can’t really compare Dracthyr to the Dragon of the Dragonflights.
They are entirely different species.

I myself like the way the new race looks and will be playing a lot of it

Ok good point so I will concede that argument. It just would have been better in a dragon expansion that is focused on the dragonflights to have the playable race be their actual dragonspawn. Is all I am trying to say.

Not true we have chromie who is a gnome, and we have that highmountain trauen one. Granted I don’t know any who have transformed into an orc, troll, or any other playable race we have.

Dracthyr look like trash drenched in soy latte. Yawn, I would have rather them updated the draconic models we have in game if they are going that route. I personally don’t care for it.

You don’t know their life. It’s really not cool to dismiss someone’s opinion just because you think it’s pointless or trivial.

Note that they said -Most- of the dragons we have seen are elven and humanoid. Chrome is fairly unique with her gnome illusion. But most as we have seen HAVE been eleven or human.

Edited.

I agree. They need to keep the current one and add on to it. Which they are doing. most of which we haven’t seen yet. I’ve counted 4 unique tails

Who decides what is cool and what’s not? You certainly don’t, that’s for sure.

I dont care anything about the lore. I dont even read quest text.

But I care about a race model that is extremely derpy looking and blocking access to the largest part of the new expansion, the only part even, that somewhat interests me and thats the new class.

I’d really actually like to play as one of these in-game. Probably would’ve been the better option to go with. More versatile.

If you’re not trolling, you’re doing a poor job convincing anyone you’re not. You are not contributing any meaningful feedback to the discussion. Just being rude.

Good news indeed. Hopefully they make the faces look less like argonians that were put into a hydraulic press. More muzzle area and more of a humanoid face-structure like their drakonid counterparts. If they could add options to make the faces appear softer, I think it’d draw more people to them.

I wish it were like any race could be evoker, no new race that goes with it. And then any evoker of any race can switch between their dragon form and their shapeshift form. That would be the coolest way to go imo.
