Dracthyr Paladins Please

From a recent interview, warriors and mages were hinted at, but not confirmed. Warriors are sort of the basic-for-all-races class.

Here’s why Paladins make sense for Dracthyr:

  • All items that Paladins use, Warriors use (warriors can also use staves, daggers, and ranged weapons).
  • Bronze Dragons magic is time and per a discussion in the Bronze Lounge (where you spend bullion) between a Lightforged Draenie and a Void Elf, “Time is akin to light” (paraphrasing), so essentially they’re very similar in the type of magic they are I guess (because of color?).

Light seems to have 2 sources (if we ignore time). Belief is the main source which is mostly to do with priests and paladins and their faith in the light. Then sun is also a source, as basically Tauren looked at the sun and could wield its power. That source of light though is what ties light to fire damage.

The list of classes Dracthyr cannot be (because it doesn’t make sense) is shorter:

  • Priests - Light yes, but there’s no tie to shadow magic/necrotic magic from any of the 5 dragon types
  • Warlock - Same reason as above. Some warlocks are only fire (or even Fel) and that works, but you can’t lock out a spec because of a certain race
  • Demon Hunter - Makes no sense

All other classes can fit based on what went into creating the Dracthyr. I suppose one could be taught how to use certain types of magics. Druid would be interesting simply because you’d have to create all new forms and druid could work because of the Emerald powers.

Out of all the fun things WoW brings, being a Dracthyr Paladin, or simply put, playing as a dragon on my main, would be the best thing in the world to me. I played an Evoker in Remix, and honestly, I spent probably 40% of my time flying around finding orbs and rare elites using the Soar ability. I love it. It’s so fun and yet so simple.

I’ve been asking for Dracthyr to have Paladins since I was selected to test the Dracthyr starting area during the pandemic.

Also, make Deep Breath a racial for Dracthyr so, as a Paladin, you can use that as a damaging and/or healing ability. That would be such an amazing and fun way to pull as a tank! Make it different based on the class/spec the Dracthyr chooses.

Oh, and in that interview video, the person thought priests could work. Well, as seen in the Paladin Class Hall questlines, a priest can literally pick up a 2h weapon and become a Paladin, so a Dracthyr Priest could do the same.

You can easily think up a lore reason like some previously-unknown group of dracthyr experimented on by Neltharion are found locked away in the isles somewhere. Turns out they are able to safely harness the void and Neltharion locked them away in fear before he himself was corrupted. Boom, now they can be priests and paladins with as much justification as void elves.

Sure if all Dracthyr racials are either removed or replaced especially glide :dracthyr_a1:

Jealous that someone has slightly better mobility, Ms. Monk?

I want Blizz to just go ahead and make all classes all races; we’ve already breached the boundaries of logic by having Lightforged warlocks, might as well have mechagnome druids, Tauren demon hunters, human shamans and goblin Evokers.

Who also cant be Paladins

Can’t be paladins yet

All the nay sayers remind me of when they tried gatekeeping all races from having warriors, hunters, rogues, and mages because it was ‘against lore’.

Pfft even with Glide Paladin mobility would be awful especially compared to Monk :dracthyr_crylaugh:

Glide was mostly a joke but if Blizzard actually do expand Dracthyr to more classes they’re gonna have to do something about the racials

I kinda agree having 2 additional interrupts on classes that allready have their good share of them like warr and rogue might cause a bit of imbalance. Gliding on the other hand, i see your point, but at the same time it would be i credibility weird a race with natural wings to not have it.

If it were me. I would replace tail swipe/wing buffet with toned down versions of other evoker spells. To keep the dragon thematic. For example a Non dot, pure burst/longer cooldown version of Fire Breath or a long cooldown, shorter travel distance version of Deep breath to serve as a short burst racial like Lightforged’s orbital strike. And an pure movement speed version of hover, similar to worgen’s Darkflight.

Gliding on the other hand, i honestly cannot see Dracthyrs without it. But i understand the concerns. Maybe have it trigger a 20 to 30s cooldown if used on combat by any non evoker Dracthyr?

All Class All Race.

lmao.

The racials are fine.

Being a paladin is a cultural order. Its not as easy as “if a race can be warriors or priests they should be paladins” if the race doesnt have a cultural martial order of religious fighters.

I mean the whole dragonkin being a paladin thing is already a thing in dnd.

From what ive seen tho it seems that whatever they get they will fight in their visage form (elf and human) and not primarily in the dragon form.

Id love to play a dragon that stays a dragon no matter what. Especially if they are going warrior or paladin. Double jump glide is life.

Glide is the main racial I wouldn’t want touched if they go ahead with more Drac classes.

Why are we worried about Glide? Is the ability to float down a staircase really that much more of an advantage over everyone else?

There’s a literal dreadlord in the order.

The racials would have to be looked at. Monks have a racial interrupt as well as their regular one. I’d like to keep the knock-up (the one that’s not wing buffet). But I’d rather deep breath be a racial. Dragon breath things are more dragon and less class specific.

Since technically anything can be taught to be another class, why would a Dracthyr forget how to breath fire because they chose to pick up a sword and shield?

Hahahaha. I’m
Not reading any of this.

Hot take, they shouldn’t touch glide, and blizzard needs to add gliders like GW2 so everyone can do it regardless of race. They’re so close with the parasols.

Did not read that, but agree with title!
