Dracthyr Paladins Please

HAHA

I think you spelled “Can’t” as in “Can’t read any of this” wrong.

Nothing to back it up, so therefor not end of thread. Classic human paladin.

You’re a paladin. Nuff said.

You’re not even an original class. You were an afterthought. So, really, you’ve not much of an opinion in the lore because your class was hiding for thousands of years. Monks don’t get a say.

Hahahaha. Oh my lord.

They may look similar, but lorewise time magic is arcane, not light. The Bronze Dragonfight are channeling arcane time magics, it has nothing to do with the same light Priests and Paladins use.

That said, I do not actually care if Dracthyr get Paladin or not. If they can learn to wield light and be a Priest, then let them wield light and smash things. No skin off my back. My best is Blizz just wouldn’t want to bother with unique Paladin models.

Heh, same reason Dracthyr prolly won’t get Druid even though that arguably makes sense too given their ties to the Emerald Dream.

Edit: I will say that Blizz changes things so often that maybe they are indeed counting arcane the same as light now, but they were always different before so long as I knew.

The mention of time being even similar to light is because of a little debate between two npcs, and even then those are just different philosophies about timelines being either one true timeline (the Draenei) or countless divergent timelines (the Void Elf) with comparisons of the Light and Void being used as part of their discussion.

But no, the Bronze Dragonflight has nothing to do with the light and though Bronze and Arcane magic are similar, they are not necessarily the same.

There are 3 potential connections to the light. The first is the connection with Time, referring to the debate. The 2nd is faith-based. So essentially belief could be a potential way to wielding the light. The 3rd is the same way the Tauren did, taken from WoWPedia:

“Among the tauren and Highmountain tauren, the paladins known as the Sunwalkers are warriors who wield the power of An’she, while the priests known as the Seers revere ‘the wisdom of the Earthmother as illuminated by the Light’. In their faith, the Light is associated to An’she, which gives them their powers.”

Dracthyr have the ability to use fire magic. The sun is a common source. Many paladin spells are a combination of holy and fire, and I think a couple priest ones are as well. So you have harnessing the power of the sun or believing in it the deity associated with the sun. You don’t have to be Tauren to follow their beliefs.

Additionally, wasn’t it the High Elves who taught Humans how to use certain magics? The Dracthyr can be taught as well as there are multiple sources to access the light.

They have the ability to use magic, like every other mortal race, yes. However, don’t get confused between Evokers channeling the essence of the dragonflights with other schools of magic. Bronze magic or even the arcane that manipulates time has zero to do with the Light. Living flame has nothing to do with the sun.

Can Dracthyr conceivably be other classes? Yes. Paladins? Well, obviously they could manage that as well, just as they could reasonably become priests or mages. Was just pointing out that the connections you were trying to make don’t exist. If you were going to make an argument about Dracthyr paladins, just point at Tyr, rather than make a strange leap about misinterpreting an NPC conversation to think that Time = Light somehow.

The problem with a lot of Warcraft class lore is that many of these classes have very narrow, very specific origins.

Paladins were created in this setting when the Knights of the Silver Hand formed as the clergy of Northshire Abby struggled to defend themselves from The Orcish Horde. That’s it.

The lore grounds for even other human cultures in this setting having paladins takes explaning. Even dwarf paladins are already pretty shakey lore grounds. Forget about the other goobers that have picked up the class over the years.

It’s pretty clear that a lot of the foundational lore set down in WC1, 2 and even 3 was not really made with a 20 year old MMORPG in mind.

Fair enough. I was just going off of previous time magic (the Nightborne’s time magic was arcane based), and the fact that the Bronze damage abilities in game are listed as arcane.
