Dracthyr or Half Elf?

Basically, what the topic header asks - are you playing your dracthyr as a dracthyr, or making them a half elf and RPing in visage form?

…no one should ever play a Dracthyr.

I rolled a Hallowfall native this expac (not planned, it just came together during a moment of Mereldar roleplay) and she’s technically part-elf in the sense that many Arathi are. That said, she’s a human model and she wears a red beanie that hides the top of her ears for now. Once half-elf ears become available, I plan to update her model.

I’ve equally seen a handful of folks use dracthyr visages as half-elves and also use short-eared elf models as half-elves. Once ear customization is in, I’m curious where people will eventually settle.

I have two dracthyr that are indeed dracthyr, though they don’t use visage

A third one that does use the visage mode is akshually a former blood elf  I really like the lore that dragons can turn people into dragonkin (which they happily ignored all of DF LMAO)

The rogue I made is a human alchemist/addict of sorts. Perma visage except when I do the old vanish-soar macro. The little double jump-ish ability and glide is so good.

edit: My Evoker is played as either a drachtyr with a fondness of visage experimentation (toy items) or as an Ogre Primalist (carved ogre idol ftw) depending on my mood

I ate a Dracthyr, does that count?

Is the moose okay?

If I’m playing a flying lizard man…then I’m going to BE a flying lizard man.

They’re still struggling with the after effects but the moosologist said they should pull through.

Thoughts and prayers.

I don’t really know what to do with Dracthyr lore but in the end zooming around on your own wings is too cool to only do out of character

Mind you, moose bites kan be pretty nasty

Neltharion’s paranoia resulted in him creating genetically engineered abominations designed to be an army of chaff if he ever needed to use it against the other Dragonflights.

Flash forward an indeterminate period of time, Neltharion’s paranoia resulted in him distrusting his army of genetically engineered abominations that were a functional fighting force that could potentially rise up against his Dragonflight, so he conned his best friend Malygos into helping him contain them.

WoW is a game that lets you be whatever you want to be.

Unless you want to be an Ogre. Or a Broken. Or Taunaka. Or a Naga.

I did play enough of Dragonflight to get the gist, but the backstory felt hard to RP.

IIRC Dracthyr are portrayed as having some degree of amnesia in the starting scenario, so I guess they’re just sort of blank slates. But having some sort of culture and history for a character to inhabit helps with character ideas more than a totally blank character sheet.

The idea I took away from the opening scenario is the Dracthyr got fridged before they were capable of creating their own unique culture. It gets lost because Blizzard doesn’t do nuance writing, but a lot of the dialogue is phrased as such that the Dracthyr had just come into that phase where they were ready to be “rolled out” and then wake up however long they were put into stasis.

I am curious to hear about any dracthyr characters you guys are RPing for context and inspiration. I didn’t really rp at all during df so idk how the community is writing for them
