Dracthyr Deathknight

Why not?

Everything else can already DK.

Flesh and bones Dracthyr with glowing frosty eyes. Wings tattered and cannot fly or glide. Done.

They are a Hero class. Just like DH’s and DK’s.
Would make zero sense tbh.

No … Dracthyr are a Race.

Evokers are the Hero class.

Just like Demon Hunters can only be Night Elves or Blood Elves. But both of those races can be Death Knight.

This is the Evoker Forums wrong place

You’re right. Fixed.

No one to actually make them, doesnt fit in the timeline since the dracthyr were basically stone and isolated from the rest of the world.

Any Lich can raise a Death Knight.

Arch-Lich Amal’thazad from Acherus is probably the most powerful one on Azeroth, since he holds the title that once belonged to Arch-Lich Kel’Thuzad.

They also have a fetish for raising dragons.

Seems natural.

Then why havent they? It was always the LK creating Death Knights outside of the first generation.

1st gen created by Gul’Dan.
2nd created by the Lich King
3rd created by the Lich King (Arthas)
4th created by the Lich King (Bolvar)

And why would we have had to go out and raise people for the 4 horsemen when Amal’thazad was there?

I cant find anything on the wiki where they created death knights though.

Death Knights arent just regularly created due to the act being horrendous. They are made when the need is there.

Lore wise the Dracthyr were all isolated and stuffed in a cave long before anyone else even existed and the location of the Isles wasnt known to anyone so of course they wouldnt be targets for resurrection.

Now Blizz guys did say during the interviews that at some point it would make sense they could be other classes but that wont be for quite a while. At a minimum at the very end of this xpac and beginning of the next as that is their pattern.

The original Four Horsemen were entirely created by Arch-Lich Kel’Thuzad as his personal servants.

The Lich King is not a Death Knight. He is a Lich - King. Arthas was a Death Knight, mind controlled and empowered by a Lich, up until he wore the Crown of Domination and then became one with the Lich King.

Liches are the masters of necromancy. Like Margrave Sin’dane, the Lich King, the Arch-Liches. We raise the Four Horsemen in Legion because we are under the direct command and control of the Lich King at that period, just as Arthas was before he wore the Crown of Domination.

There’s no Dracthyr undead because they haven’t been written-in yet.

So you have the 4 horsemen created by a Lich that gone and taken care of.

The Lich King is not a Lich. Just like the Witch King wasnt actually a witch. The Lich King doesnt have a phylactery, his soul (Ner’zhul) was bound to the armor helm and weapon. This didnt allow him to generate his own physical form, something that Liches do. Ner’zhul needed a vessel to merge with.

There are no Dracthyr undead because they were in stasis away from the rest of the world for what… 20,000 years? There arent many Liches left. There is only really 3 that are active right now. Timolain The Accursed, Tanathal and Amal’thazad. Tanathal wont be making any moves, Amal’thazad wouldnt either so its kind of limited to Timolain and he didnt have any link to the scourge and in fact was going to use the power of the scourge against them.

With no one really left to create Death Knights… how would it happen exactly?

They’ve been isolated in the Dragon Isles for tens of thousands of years and were not around for anybody with the ability to raise Death Knights to access. Also, after the events of the very beginning of Shadowlands, it makes even less sense because that means some random character that happens to have or retain the ability to raise Death Knights would have to be flagged down or recruited, which would make for stupid writing.

Furthermore, we already have an actual death dragon and she is currently used as a squirt gun.

Maybe after current expansion that might happen. I’m sure lots of dead dragons washed up on northrend

I’ll agree when every race can be druids, shaman and demon hunters. About what you need to raise a dk though, that’s not clear at all. Apparently, you need someone extremelly gifted in the manipulation of death magics and specifically knowledgeable in the subject in question. Meh, who knows, lore is crazy weird and it’s just getting weirder. And rune weapons are getting way less significant in the mensure of power of a dk for some time already, despite being of the pillars of their conception. Nowadays is just… dunno, a plus?

Stopped reading there.

Good, hes still not a Lich.

No.

It wouldn’t make sense because they were isolated for tens of thousands of years on the Dragon Isles, and especially after the events in the both the beginning and end
of Shadowlands, it would be horrendously nonsensical for people to still be creating Death Knights. Their existence was contingent upon the death magic of The Maw, so continuing to use such forces after defeating the Jailor would be insane lore-wise.

And this isn’t even getting into how horribly the dragons would react to this because they are defenders of LIFE, and the queen of the dragons is the LIFE BINDER. Alexstrasza hated Death Knights after they raided the Ruby Sanctum itself and killed every last red dragon in cold blood (if they chose to do so during the quest which gave a feat of strength achievement) so they could steal information about one of their dead brethren in order to find and raise them into undeath. Lore-wise, killing the red dragons in the Ruby Sanctum would have driven the red dragonflight into extinction.

Death Knight is my favorite class even though it’s garbage now, but there is no way to make any remote sense of raising the Dracthyr or any dragonkin creature as such.

If I understand correctly even the Pandaren did not have death knights when they first launched. I honestly think its just a matter of time for Dracthyr. Soldiers fight and eventually die. Perhaps some of them will be brought back or maybe volunteer to become one. The wow team has already said that they would like to make all classes available to all races as time goes on however they said no promises. Only time will tell. Here is a link to the interview. The question of race/class combos is asked at 10:20.

Pandaren are 4th generation DK, a Bolvar era DK. There is no more LK.

And how would anything but a Dracthyr Evoker actually work?
