Dracthyr Classes & Story Beats

Emberthal says “I see you’ve found a connection with dark powers. Don’t let it corrupt you the way it did to father” to warlock dracthyr

I’m of the opinion that Deathwing would never have made them just one single class.
That’s stupid.
He’s many things, but stupid isn’t one of them.

He didn’t. Story wise, the dracthyr hunters, warriors, etc, wake up after the events of Dragonflight.

“We must stand together against that huge raid boss - who can tank?”

“Dad didn’t give us a tank spec. The Dracthyr that can tank aren’t awake yet or something.”

Yep, that is how the conversation definitely went. We all thought dad went mad…

Deathwing created the Dracthyr… the classes they took came on their own accord. As you can see from the get go, Evokers are actually a minority.

Well, there you go.

Really, dracthyr warlocks existed before stasis? That I find hard to believe.

That should be approached as individual stories, not a one size fits all.

Two Dracthyr Priests should be two different characters, one might even be an Atheist, believing that their power comes from force of will.

Classes are game mechanics, abstractions of what makes a story character, not the be all and end all. Thrall isn’t just another Shaman, Tyrande isn’t just another Priest.

Thats the story told in the intro. (Same person, cant change characters for some reason).

It’s literally the lore, is only the “best of the best” become Evokers.

That I have no problems with, it is the fact that Nethelon would allow his Dracktyr to F around with fel and demons without putting them down. That is my only issue. They weren’t out and about long enough to get into fel magic imho. I was hoping something more, like it would make more sense that after getting out, a group of drackthyr saw the chaos magic the mortals are using and felt power they couldn’t get as evokers.

ya, I do wonder about Warlock Dracthyr. But then neltharion was in league with an old God, so meh…it may work.

They probably didn’t.

The warlock dracthyrs were probably at the time only messing up with shadow magic.

Learning demon stuff would probably happen after waking up on modern day azeroth.

That was what I thought, guess the other person was just speaking in themes.

Like how worgen druids were just harvest witches before they became worgen or druids.

We can probably start a whole conversation on how globalization of skills happened in lore tbh.

Emberthal says dracthyr warlocks are specialists in calling upon powers from beyond Azeroth. Tapping into the twisting nether while researching the void seems like a Neltharion thing, I think even non Burning legion affiliated demons would be something lore friendly, since the Dracthyr were imprisoned thousands of years before the BL came to azeroth.
