Dracthyr Assassination Rogue 'class trial' - why?

I didn’t ask for class trial. I thought I would be able to just start playing. Everything I tried to do was blocked, so I deleted her. She could not be brought back with character return.
Both my accounts are current and have all expansion packs. I did all manner of searching before coming here. Am I limited to one Dracthyr, period? Not one per account? Else why is this toon on a class trial with an expectation that I boost her out of it?

If i rember class trials u can only play so long till it locks u and u need to put a boost on them mite be better off deleting them alltogether.

It is not one per account, it is also not one per realm, technically. You may only create one per realm, but cannot use that creation if you transferred one from another server first.

You also need an existing level 50 on the realm you wish to create one on-- only your very first Dracthyr is free of restrictions. If you tried to create that character on a realm where no such character lives, is it possible it is automatically selected?

Didn’t they get rid of that for Evokers when they made them start at level 10 instead of 58?

The restriction does appear to be gone now as I was just able to create a Dracthyr of all of their available classes on an unsubbed base account that has characters all below level 20.

I didn’t try doing it with class trials though, just the default starting level 10.

That would make sense. The restriction was originally on Evokers, because they started at 58, and by extension dracthyr, because they could only be evokers (thus getting some people into the habit of using the 2 interchangeably) . I’ve never seen a restriction of how many of 1 race you can have on a realm.

Ahhh, how interesting. I forgot they expanded to other classes, hence the realm restriction for Evokers (hero class thing, and whatnot. DH was recently removed, so possible it was within that same time for evoker?).

So then it must have just been an accidental checking of class trial in the end.

Removed? From what? Sorry, I’m just a casual with a beloved DK.

When the hero classes (DK, DH, Evoker) launched, they all initially had a restriction of only one per realm. After enough time has passed, and with how the game’s changed, all of those restrictions have since been removed.

And another character already on the realm of a certain minimum level, which is where my confusion stemmed.

I’m not sure how long it took for DK, but DH restrictions were removed with the Shadowlands prepatch, and as Evoker (and by extension Dracthyr) was a hero class up until this last patch, they seem to have been unlocked fairly quickly. I can’t seem to find it documented that the restrictions were removed as a result, but the evidence is plenty.

The evoker limitations were removed with pre patch.

  • Evokers now start at level 10 (was level 58) and the one-Evoker-per-realm restriction has been removed.

The only way to start a class trial is to check that box during character creation. After 3 hours of play, that trial will be locked and the only way to unlock it is to boost the character. The character can also be locked if it was a boosted character and the payment was refunded or charged back, in which case a boost is again required to unlock the character.
