Tbh it could just be time of queuing? But even that, idk.
I’m on my 10th dungeon run right now and my avg queue has been about 3-4 minutes. Only 2 were tank and the rest are dps.
So I think that is pretty solid at 5am.

And the fix for this is mobs that hit much harder so when the dps pulls they instantly die. But you’d need to buff tank survivability while leveling so tanks who are learning have a chance to learn and not die to the increased damage.
A large buff to auto attack damage and tank armor would do it.
This sounds like you’re saying the tank nerfs are the cause, which isn’t true.
Long waits for tanks have been a thing since WotLK, I know because it’s one of the things they kept me as a tank all this time having short waits and often bonus bags.
No matter what Blizz does tanks will always be in short supply. They’ve buffed tanks before, given satchels to tanks in lfg, added new classes to tank, and more
Every character horde side i queues, no matter spec, queue was fast.
Any alli character, save tank, i queued, queues were 20 min +
This is part of the reason why I don’t play classes without a tank spec anymore. Why would you want to be a second class citizen in Azeroth???
ah yes classic redditor take. put words in peoples mouths and then argue against that point lol. brain rot at its finest
and even if it was the case that i was saying that, your response is just: its always been this way? thanks for the insight and advice on how to fix the issue. great talk.
I think this particular post is more about easy queue content, and tanking Timewalking is super easy with one big caveat… you’re always being yelled at for going too fast or too slow, sometimes both in the same run somehow lol.
It’s why I stopped doing queue content as a tank. Mind numbing boring but also frustrating because even if you have a flawless 4 minute run you still get insulted for it “boo boring tank I didn’t even get to do my full rotation.”
The solution is to play a healer or tank spec.
I’ve gotten 5-10 min queues for a ton of TW I did to level from 70-80, I don’t know why this is happening to people, but I’m not experiencing it.
It’s just people being mwean to tank and healers, and not wanting to be tank/healers themselves because people will be mean to them. Rinse and repeat until there are none left.
Those are some insane times, though. I rarely go over 7 mins for timewalking stuff.
In XIV, they have deep dungeons where you queue up and it just looks for 4 players, doesn’t matter the role. You could get in a group with all DPS or all tanks. The dungeon design is that to where any combination can succeed or fail.
This isn’t to say change all dungeons to be this, but just like deep dungeons, they’re a side activity.
Tanks have threat issues?
All 3 roles are pretty easy and trivial up to 10’s. The difference is tanks/healers have route and affix responsibility that dps can completely ignore. Pretty good troll though.
In TBC, we ran a single healer in Karazhan after everyone was geared beyond it. For certain fights, we ran a single tank as well. Made runs go that much faster, even with DPS alts that were undergeared. If your group was experiencing this, where one healer was made irrelevant by being more progressed than the content they were doing, then that was on your leadership, not you. At those points, you let alts come in to get gear, or move on to more challenging content.
No, not at all. You can imagine that but outside of very specific dps in very specific affixes this isn’t a thing.
Routes also barely matter in tww. You can argue there is minor variation in 2 dungeons every other one is just full clear to boss.
At the higher levels, depending on dps spec yes. An enhancement shaman can rip threat, although in they’re good they know to wait, and if they’re undergear you’re ok.
But geared dps players who pop CDs as soon as a pull starts can take threat
What makes a tank or healer fun to you?
Yup, Certain classes have extremely high opening burst, they have to wait 3 seconds before sending which just feels really bad.
I only see queues like that when I am queueing with my friend and we are both DPS. I wonder if it’s your server group? I play on a pretty high pop server so queues have never been an much of an issue.
Please tell me what change in the code will force me to queue as a tank for dungeons instead of DPS.
If this is an example of a change you’d recommend, then I am really glad you are in no way involved with the development of this game.
The tank/healer shortage is the cause of dps long queue time. It is a player issue, not a system issue. It is decided by tank/healer/dps supply and demand. The ONLY solution is to make more people playing tank/healer.
There are some very simple ways to do that:
e.g. Make tank/healer do more damage than dps. So tanks and healers have superior defense/healing, AND superior dps. I am sure more players will switch from dps to tank/healer.
If there is still shortage, then give tank/healer doing 150%, 200%, 300%… more dps than dps, until there is market supply/demand balance.
e.g. Give tank/healer double, triple, quadriple,… more crests than dps, until there is supply/demand balance.
These are very simple and effective ways to give people the incentives. However, these are bad for the game balance and clearly not the optimal solution. But there is NO other way to force people to play tank/healer.
Nobody is forced to play dps. When one chooses to play dps, he chooses long queue.
