Looking at doing some double DPS 2’s with a warrior buddy, nothing too serious but hoping to win of course
I’m trying to figure out what would work best (he plays Arms Warr). I’m assuming something also fairly sturdy? I generally don’t do well with glass cannon specs
I have a WW monk, a Spriest, a DH, a DK, and another Warrior, but would also consider levelling something new if it was a clear winner!
Respec voidweaver disc and you’ll do the same damage while healing your warrior. My buddy frequently does more damage than both dps. Viable at all ratings in 2s.
Whatever you pick your getting flattened by a healer… rogue mage works because of how hard they can cheese a 100 to 0 kill in cc nothing else has a chance really.
The most important thing when playing double dps when not playing rogue mage is resilient mind because it is tough these days with double dps. You’ll fight lots of healers and healers are crazy strong with pretty much all of them having access to abilities that allow them to completely negate your burst. Holy priest has angel form, druids have iron bark + summoned tree with it that heals for 700k over 6 seconds, evokers have time dilation along with the aoe massive heal even when in cc, holy pallies have their bubbles and monks have their life cocoons.
After watching a video snupy put out the other day, what you essentially need is two classes that have a for of self sustain, the ability to get away along with lots of cc. Basically try to stay alive between your go’s and try again. Or, rogue/mage.
With all that said, my friend and I play double dps and have done so for years. A “win” for the season is if we reach 1600 and if we get 1800 it’s a “we killed it this season!” type of thing. We started off this season as fury war + unh dk, but now we are playing enh shaman + unh dk. It’s super hard this season as healers just have so many ways to avoid big burst and you fight healers pretty much 90% of the time. We are sitting at a ~40% win rate and rating is only 1350ish- so it’s not impossible to beat a healer team, but it’s super hard. We are actually thinking about dropping this game as double dps becomes less and less viable as the expansions go on.
In b4 someone comes and posts “you’re bad I ran into this 3k dps duo who play this game for a living at decently high mmr, double dps works perfectly fine”. (non rogue mage ofc)
While warrior can be very good in pvp, it lacks self sufficiency in terms of healing. It’s really NOT a good 2v2 double dps class. However, if you’re gonna commit to that line of play, your best bet is probably ret paladin.
This right here. You’re fighting a massively uphill battle by playing arms warrior in arena without a healer. So if You’re going to do that, ret is most definitely the best bet for a teammate.
Ret is basically a healer being labeled and balanced as a dps. Kinda like how its also a ranged spec being labeled and balanced as a melee. Currently ret has every single healing external that holy paladin has. Every one of them. Their Blessing of Sacrifice is also a shorter CD than Hpal’s for some reason. They also have sanc that can get you out of CC.
The only real shortcoming is that ret doesn’t have a traditional dispel (though I’m sure Blizzard will give them one soon and it’ll most likely just auto proc), which means he may have trouble connecting to your target because nobody can dispel his roots/slows. But as far as other “dps” specs go, ret is light-years better of a teammate for what youre trying to do than any other spec.
Sounds like picking up a healer is going to be much better for us so I think that’s what I’ll do
I have a monk, priest, and paladin. Any of these significantly better than the others for 2’s with a warrior? Or is it a case where any of them will be fine at our level?
