I admit I did enjoy seeing some celebrities get DESTROYED roast wise after that stupid Imagine cover.
John Wayne’s characters were killed off in a ton of movies; Westerns, The Alamo, WW2 films.
Which one were you specific on?
Such a good idea. People should be held accountable for their actions, words, threats and intentions.
And if they have so much time on their hands that they can expend so much of it trolling others online, then they should be encouraged to do regular community service so they can more productively contribute to society.
Like said earlier it’s a consequence of someone living their entire lives online. The self training and energy spent is in all the wrong places.
I’m a hermit whose only connection is to the internet for the most part. So I acknowledge that my state of mind probably isn’t like most people out in the world. It’s a bit of self tempering but on the back of having a childhood that didn’t allow being very social.
I did have the luxury of keeping much older friends though and various intimate relationships. So I wasn’t socially inept. That’s never been a problem for me. I can go to big company meetings and be one of the more sociable people there but after I need a long nap. It destroys my energy levels because I’m working at it. This is a side effect of 99% of my life being alone. I love being alone but I acknowledge it makes my socializing rather difficult. We have to train and maintain such things.
Anyway the Twitter club is a pretty unhealthy circle. An echo chamber of personal fears and unfounded fairy tales. There’s no self critique in such a social circle and that’s plain evident speaking to them. Hostility is a common reaction when their world views are tested. The garbage fake news doesn’t help either.
I mean the bloke that shot john lennon didn’t have the internet
You’re right. I was mistaken about that.
Bruce Dern was hated because of how his character killed Wayne’s character. He shot him in the back as he walked away in Cowboys, which people viewed as cowardly.
Thank you for pointing that out.
does the “The more you know” rainbow
omg yeah!
In all those other movies, he died fighting face-to-face! so I missed that!
Even?
people are seriously threatening her? for working on a stupid video game?
how can you threaten someone so lovable?
No, it’s also not to say the internet itself creates the person. It’s a severe lack of energy dedicated to self analysis.
If someone sits in a room alone and lets their fears take hold of their mind they can gin up some pretty awful projections of what the world is. The problem here is the internet echo chamber is just an extension of the self. There’s no critical self reflection because nobody is challenging each other.
Challenged = blocked. That’s a Twitter thing.
frankly, i’m not surprised we’re seeing the rise of threats. they’re everywhere. movie stars threatening fans, fans threatening movie stars. when society starts to break down, people devolve also. also, voice actors have been a focus lately because of high profile voice actors retiring roles due to their skin color. so now that entire field is under scrutiny.
Gamers are trash. Learn to channel your criticism of something constructively, or don’t interact with society.
yeah, huge crit role fan, that’s why I can’t understand why anyone could possibly even think of threatening her, or any of the cast for that matter.
but I just googled it, some of the threats aren’t just towards her, but her poor kid too. What the hell is wrong with people?
Toxic people exist seriously everywhere. Not just gamers
This reminds me of when Skyler White’s actor received death threats because people hated Skyler. Like it was already messed up they hated one of Walter White’s most prominent victims, but then they slung mud at her actor too.
You’re not wrong.
nobody is trash.
People with credit cards no doubt comprise a good number of the perpetrators here. And removing anonymity would make doxxing easier and more terrifying.
There is no easy answer. Yours included.
I think there is an easy answer. It’s like I told Jack Dorsey years ago.
Don’t put one person’s feelings above another person’s right to speak. While I understand people are tweeting to her death threats these people also have the capacity to block people who disagree with them.
That’s the problem here. When you can filter out all consequences for their thoughts or behavior there’s no reason why they’d ever change. People need to understand none of us exist in this world with a perfect idea of what’s going on. We need each other to bounce ideas and experiences. That reciprocity makes the person.
