This Tuesday, Blizzard wants us to scatter. They’re pushing free transfers off our mega servers, hoping we’ll quietly move to smaller realms. But let’s be honest this isn’t about improving our experience. It’s about avoiding the real work of supporting the communities we built. It’s about prioritizing Retail infrastructure while Classic players get the leftovers.
We’ve stuck with Classic through thick and thin. We’ve built guilds, friendships, economies, and memories on these mega servers. And now Blizzard wants to uproot that because they won’t invest in the tech or moderation to make these realms sustainable?
Let’s send a message: We won’t move. We won’t be ignored.
If we all refuse to transfer, Blizzard will have no choice but to face the reality: Classic players deserve better. We deserve real solutions not band-aids. Not silence.
So on Tuesday, don’t click that transfer button. Don’t abandon your community. Let’s show Blizzard that Classic isn’t just a side project t’s a living world, and we’re not going anywhere.
Before you unsub move your characters so you can avoid in 6 months coming to the forums and complain that you are stuck on dead server and dont have a free transfer.
Nope! After the great consolidation mess of 2022, I paid to transfer back TO the realm I’m on now, Hydraxian Waterlords the EU RP realm. Blizz will have to force-move me from there. I just rolled some alts to last me until my sub runs out - and for the off chance that I should return to Mists ever again.
Yeah no lol. Moving to the new mega server right away. It’s gonna be awesome. Outside of weirdo forum trolls on here, most people are very excited about this. Have some returning friends as well with whom we will be able to now group up with.
I plan on going just not this week because its going to take this week for them to get it right. Im already prepared for servers not being up at 3 pm pacific tomorrow.
How soon after the new servers come out will Ironforge.pro update the new census of how many players are in each realm? I almost would rather wait a few days or more before I decide to transfer to see where the majority of players are going to transfer off to.
You’re either trolling or don’t understand how the server consolidation is going to work. We’re not going to “scatter” tomorrow. It’s exactly the opposite. All of the new sub-servers are connected together as part of Pagle. It will be one ginormous mega server. That’s literally the entire point of doing it.
You’re oversimplifying the situation and ignoring the core frustration. Yes, Blizzard is consolidating servers into a mega-realm But they did it all wrong! Blizzard could have easily preserved PvP and PvE integrity by connecting PvP servers to PvP hubs and PvE servers to PvE hubs, just like they’ve done in past merges. Instead, they’re reflagging PvP servers as PvE and funneling everyone into a generic mega-realm, while Grobbulus becomes the only PvP option!
And let’s not pretend this is a technical limitation. Blizzard has done targeted merges before:
Classic Era consolidation
Season of Discovery merges
Even Retail realm connections that preserved PvP/PvE flags
So why not now? Because, as Blizzard admitted, Retail’s housing infrastructure is taking priority over Classic server architecture . That’s not speculation it’s in their own developer notes.
This isn’t about trolling it’s about calling out a pattern: Classic players get the leftovers while Retail gets the investment.
You can call it a “ginormous mega server” all you want, but if it’s built by gutting PvP realms, ignoring community feedback, and prioritizing Retail tech, then it’s not a win! Its a loss! Its disrepect to the players who have played on these servers for 6+ years!
