I don’t need to buy it , I can read. It explicitly states a quest is required to get the gear. It does not say what kind of quest. It’s not their fault you incorrectly assumed it’d be a 3 second “talk to this guy” quest.

I’m just gonna play the game as normal and hope they up the drop rates. No real rush to unlock that particular appearance.

I have the timer on in the game. These have been my results thus far:
farming solo with a Ret Paladin ilvl 408, Horde.
Fly to Tiragarde Sound, go to Freehold town.
Entire town is Humanoid Pirates, with a few big bois.
Pull everything.
32 mins. in: 12 Echos dropped.
Not bad at all. /shrug

I farmed up all 40 in about 2 hours. I got my set, and it’s neat.
Blizzard should just give you the set though. When you pay for something, having to work for it feels pretty cruddy.

I agree with this. What a ridiculous notion to make people grind like this.
And a quest is fine. Hours of grinding is not. Because this:

Again… running a quest isn’t the issue. Having to farm for hours in one spot with a low drop rate to complete it is the issue after paying $20 extra for it.

How is this any different from having to grind the rep for the AR which were a preorder bonus for bfa? At least this grind can and has been done in 1 day.

Because people didn’t pay an extra $20 to access it. And most already had that rep or would have gotten it anyway, seeing as how there were other rewards attached to it.

Apparently you have to stand outside of some place in Nazmir in a group and spend hours farming a low drop rate item to get it, yes.

The mount is ugly enough not to order anything but the basic game.
Given their track record as of late, I’m surprised people are jumping on day 1 preorders without knowing anything about the other 99.9999% of the expansion. The mog and mount aren’t that good.

Doing a small lore quest that is Shadowlands themed or what the armor represents , thats like 10 minutew max, sure.
But not grind x items I cant defend that ever.

Agreed. People knew there was a quest and that’s fine. I think they all expected what you described. Who wouldn’t? But hours of a grind? For some, that’ll be days or weeks depending on how much time they have.
No one spent $20 for that bs.

Well, I’m not - and yes I bought the epic version because for me it’s inexpensive so why not - going to try and eat the whole pie in one sitting. I went to Arathi and started working on it…8 in <hour but it was camped and I wound up smacking a lot more grey mobs than red mobs. I’ll give Freehold a shot today for a while, then maybe Nazmir. When I hit 40 of them I’ll have it but I’m not going to get upset about it. 
i’ll take my boosted hunter out to freehold in a little bit and own some pirates. hunter is a good place for that. XD
i read what it said and i’m not upset the quest exists. just need to do some work to get it. there needs to be more cool things like this we can work towards tbh.
once my friend told me how to get the quest i’ve just been trying to figure out which toon to do it on.
