Don't Change pvp gearing!

but then you were done. That’s it… no upgrading no improving it just done…2 sets is boring.

i would support this if there were alternative paths to acquire the progression felt gear, so long as the gap between the upper and lower are not vast.

carried.

I’m fine with alt paths also fine with large IL difference for those who take the time to do it. This is the only year I’ve ever done RBGs and it was just to try and upgrade my gear. 2 sets is boring tho and will lead to decrease in pvp.

Actually I am fine with alt paths if it doesn’t lead through pve in anyway like most this game forces us to do.

Yeah these dudes just want the best gear for free.

Their argument is it puts everyone on a level playing field but they don’t understand that nobody will play the damn game because there is no incentive to compete.

This system killed wow in WOD and will do the same thing to SL.

This is an MMORPG. Not a blue ribbon festival.

Sure. I’m a big fan of ‘play the content you want’ end game. Forcing anyone to do stuff they wouldn’t normally do is a terrible idea.

BUT

A lot of the player base do multiple things. And successful gear should allow you to take part in all areas of the game. PvE gear usually has worked like that (maybe… a bit less so when pvp specific stats were added). The bulk of my activity in wow atm is pvping but I definitely raid and do some mythics.

And people are going to want to be able to do things with their gear. Rather than grind multiple sets. Which, again, PVE players did not really have to do in WOD.

I’m not a die hard pvper - I get its horrible being mismatched against powerful players. Skirmishes are a good example of this. Total roulette. But I’d rather gear remained useful across the game, initial gear was far easier to grind and maybe some sort of ilvl matching was done in random BGs to make things better for new players.

Yeah didn’t you get the memo? You’re awesome at pvp and deserve the same gear as the top 1% of players. Your 350 rating is what I aspire to have one day.

Maybe i can buy a boost to 350 too!?

The only reason and i mean legit reason pvp is active is because blizz is forcing pvers to do pvp i have played every expansion and everyone i have talked to minus the few people you and this paladin for example has prefered the wod system to this system

i already am 220+ on my main and have been 2.2+ in previous expansions as well i still prefer the wod system the only reason wods subs was low since people keep bringing that up was due to pve side which the majority complained about i hardly if at all ever saw any complaining about pvp and pvp was probably the only successful thing about wod. Subs were low because pvers had nothing to do as well as that was when the whole flying thing started.

Exactly. Two sets is dumb. Exactly why they removed resilience gear and this trash WOD model in the first place.

Gearing systems benefit good players and hard work. Not bad players and zero effort.

its not the sets that are boring but there is no carrot at the end of the stick, new rewards would be nice for a change.

yep, agreed.

instead of buying tokens? k

gear doesnt have to be the end all reward for competition.

no, the lack of pve content killed WoD, but nice try though.

why? pve players do this all the time with their gear pieces based on encounter. pvp players do this depending on comps/spec/build etc. do you think this is a new concept?

carried.

what? lol. This coming from the most trash talking player in the wow forums after being carred to 2200 in rbgs. Maybe youll get better at some point and learn to play the actual game. It’s not your fault though, paladins are the fotm. please teach us how to get carried in rbgs? how many tokens did it cost? better luck next expansion

they removed these systems to pave the pathway to templates and the ‘gear is gear’ system so players could use 1 set of gear. wasnt very popular in case you havent noticed in the metric of rated participation.

The system didn’t kill WoD. No content at all for over a year or so killed WoD. Garrisons killed WoD. PvP was fine. Raiding was fine, except the boring space while everyone was done progressing and how long it took with the xpac to come out with the last tier. That’s how it’s always been, though.

Yep, and yet there’s people doing boosts like you, which kills it entirely since it’s not earned.

Nobody said free, why is it that the meta specs like Rets and WWs have an issue, always, with people bringing more balance into the game and it’s systems? Get off that meta spec horse. Go play something else that isn’t meta, and then fight meta. You’ll see the differences.

my hopes is that they do release the wod gearing and this guy spent all his wagie income on tokens and boosts for nothing

And it wasn’t.

I had to remind myself of this but:

  • Conquest Gear, purchased with (Currency #390), is Wild Gladiator’s Gear. This epic-quality gear is the top level of PvP gear, excluding purely cosmetic Elite gear. It is item level 700, and scales to ilvl 730 in PvP. Conquest gear cannot be Warforged.

While the equivalent raid was:

  • Hellfire Citadel
LFR 675-685 ilvl
Normal 690-705 ilvl
Heroic 705-720 ilvl
Mythic 720-735 ilvl

PvE gear wasn’t remotely terrible in pvp. Trinkets and weapons etc were often far superior to any pvp equivalents.

Which again - problem.

Lol you are so upset. Its funny how you think everyone above 2.1k got carried. True victim mentality.

Also you don’t post on your main, because you are subconsciously embarrassed about your severe lack of skill or credentials.

Ripppp.

Also I got 2.1k in MOP. I can’t remember a carry system back then… interesting. I guess a check of the achievements wouldn’t do any good. You always have another excuse.

Nobody is actually good at the game. You are just the best player ever and its a huge conspiracy to keep you at 350 rating LOL

Haha

I guess. Either way we’ll see in the future. If they go with 2 sets of gear and this scaling garbage it won’t end well. It’ll be one of the more boring pvp seasons we’ve seen.

This game prides itself on changing constantly but this system didn’t stay for a reason. It’s just a step away from templates which 2 sets basically is already. If they insist on this I’d like to see around 4-5 tiers seperated by 10IL each, and a real pvp stat. I won’t see that as people want “Fair” pvp despite the fact that gear isn’t nearly as big of an issue as class imbalance. I can kill some classes that are 10 IL above me just as fast as the same class 10 IL below me while their are other classes that are pretty much unkillable at all, that’s not a gear issue, it’s a me issue learning to fight them and a balance issue when an entire team can jump on them and they live.

I sub month to month and after I resub I cancel so it doesn’t renew. This time I stated WoD style scaling as my reason I canceled I doubt they’ll care but I’ll keep saying it every month.

Yep. Everyone better than you got carried. You’re right. Please show me the way senpai.

Check your own ratings bud. its not everyone we’re talking about. it’s you with how much *** you talk after buying carries, and the fact your ego is so enormously boosted that you have to respond to literally every post here with something ignorant. it’s so ridiculously obvious you bought carries. 300+ games in 2s and still under 1300? but 186 in rbgs at 2180? LOL

imagine my shock— vanilla had rank 14 farmers that queued in AV 24/7. beat it lol.

did qanon tell you this?

should a larger disparity exist in a setting which measures success by skill?

my way or your way? my way includes casual pvpers able to acquire all gear, yours includes tokens and a false sense of achievement afterwards.

I’d definitely agree about class balance. Some specs are almost built for arenas or BGs while others (poor, poor MWs and Demos) aren’t. I will say while its a problem, most classes have one spec that’s good. E.g. MW suck, but WW are great. Demo’s are terrible but most BGs want an affliction lock. It’s not perfect but I can’t think of a class that’s universally unwanted atm (maybe… hunter? I don’t see those much).

There’s also an enormous divide between casual and rated players that’s quite hard to overcome. It’s not impossible but it’s definitely there. Arenas are HARD despite what anyone says, as is forming a decent reliable group if you’re unsure how to go about it. People can spend hours queuing and without 100-200 games played with a steady group you’re definitely going to be sub-optimal once inside. I know - I’m terrible in them ^^ BGs are more forgiving atm but require a lot more set up and hunting than low to mid mythics, for example.

Ultimately, though, I think this is a social problem - not a gearing one. Wow needs better systems to help players get good at all aspects of end game (and to meet like-minded players). And those systems are… poor atm. Solo queues for rated arena ‘might’ help? I honestly don’t know as you’ll still be crushed by groups.
