Done with WoW

I’m quite aware of the sense that people listen to an earnings call, hear engagement metrics, and assume that is the thing which drives us as developers. Those metrics are shared to the investment community because they’re a way to make comparisons across multiple games and franchises. How do you come up with a single number that encapsulates the success of Candy Crush, Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Overwatch, and so forth? You don’t, you boil it down to hours or daily active users.

I used to work at an amusement park, a looong time ago. A big one.

About 8000 people a day would come through my ride. 99.5% of them were either positive to us, or neutral at the very least.

But wow…those 20 people a day that were just not having fun for some reason….you hoped they didn’t find a reason to single you out. They’d March down to Park Ops and file a complaint (with exactly zero evidence).

GD is the theme park. 0.25% of the people of the park come here to complain, while millions just play and have fun.

Yet….the sky is falling when one person leaves. C’mon man…

We’re not talking about other games, as his comment pertained to, nor are we talking about internal metrics that dictates development. We’re solely talking about WoW and how it’s reported. You can believe whatever you’d like but the information is readily available for you online.

So, if you have 3,000 DAU and 9,000 MAU in the month of June, your stickiness ratio is 33%.

So basically they want you logging in EVERY SINGLE DAY.

The information is out there. Just take a look.

He’s not a game designer, he’s not getting paid by the company - he pays (or paid them) he has no mandate to leave an in-depth explanation of his feelings of disappointment - neither to the company and especially not to you.

I speak for myself only but this is the first time since wrath that I’ve decided to quit for a very extended amount of time until this game convinces me it is on a different course.
I’ve taken breaks before but that was mainly from burnout.

Very sad to say that. Back in the day I would have jumped all over a mount grind or daily quests. This time is different. I’m tired of the same old thing. Not exciting to me anymore.

I have decided that wow needs a wake up call for me and “insert mystery number” of people that agree with me.
That wake up call will only come when they see lower sub numbers or feel a financial impact.

Not all of these problems are the result of covid. Covid hit other game companies too and although their production is affected and projects delayed I feel they are on the right track.

You and many others including all of my friends that I’ve played with since wrath.

I will gladly return when WoW makes a product I enjoy.

Its on the unsub form at some times.
It was when I unsubbed in Feb or March, whenever it was.
I didn’t bother leaving a post because they generally get this kind of reaction. and are generally ignored by the devs.

I don’t know why anyone’s riding OP, he’s absolutely right–PVP gearing is trash right now. I used to love random BGs but it’s a waste of my time to sit in queue for 6-8 minutes only to be placed in a match where I’m like 1 of a couple geared players, the rest of my team are like 30k health, and the enemy team has a bunch of 40k warriors. Rets, Boomies, and Rogues on a fairly regular basis.

If it’s so unfun for me (who has no issue getting gear) then imagine how unfun it is for players who don’t do rated PVP to gear getting hard slammed every match. They killed RBGs this patch, so I basically have nothing to do but run some arena in a super anti-healer meta where every game is stressful. Would be nice to queue some unrated PVP where I can chill and not care about win or loss, provided it’s a fair match.

PVP shouldn’t be about gear vs gear, it should be about team work and player class knowledge. I doubt I’ll even play enough to bother hitting 2100 again this season considering I’m tired of bad random BG match ups.

didn’t you say you were leaving? Go ahead and do that. Bye, have fun with your bunny ears weebing it up in FFXIV!! You weren’t able to complete a single non-LFR boss or a single key in season 1 so i think it’s pretty obvious WoW is too high a skill gap for you. FFXIV is prob perfect. You can afk during the raids and it doesn’t matter

Always scratch my head at posts like this, really does highlight the self importance of people.

…and the next time… and the time after that… etc etc

I already unsubbed but why wouldn’t I use the time I have left to say what I want to say?

If you don’t like it, just ignore it.

I will! Also, weeb isn’t an insult to me. I love most anime. A lot of people do.

I don’t push keys because they’re not fun. Look at my achievements and see if I’ve done anything other than the required pve that it takes to pvp. It’s because the pve in this game is crap and not worth doing.

LOL, FF14 raids are Waaaaaaay more difficult than WoW raids. Some difficulties don’t put markers on the ground for you and DBM isn’t a thing there so you can’t just listen for queues.

Do you even know what you’re talking about….

Come join us in FF14, everyone else is.

The community, progression, and world-building you miss from old WoW is all there now and I hope to see you soon.
