Making them a choice node effectively kills one or the other for prot.
In pvp it’s really fun knocking enemies off ledges with Dragon Charge and having Leap to save your butt if you get knocked off or if you need to Leap up the edge to grab an orb in Temple or a myriad of other situations. Merging them totally kills the current prot play style in pvp.
Prot already has the worst mobility as a flag carrier anyway and this will make it even worse by not having access to both abilities.
Fine if you wanna give Dragon Charge to other warriors (not really though) but don’t nerf fun/utility for Prot.
Where did this change even come from to straight up ruin a talent specifically unique to pvp prot warriors? Were the dozens of us just that dominant?
The least they could do to compensate us is buff Bodyguard to transfer all damage types to us instead of just physical. That would make us a proper asset, especially in flag carry maps, seeing as how tanks are fairly sub optimal at that these days.
Another blizzard brilliant idea, talent was 100% killed, why would you pick it, if it will replace heroic leap, when you desperate need the jump? Dragon charge have tons of limitations.
It will be useless for all warriors, except maybe doing some gags in random bgs.
Exactly. It’s gonna be real hard to justify giving up leap for Dragon Charge, effectively killing Dragon Charge as an option. Dumbest change in all the 11.1 patch notes.
Im kinda surprised they didn’t give it 2 charges and replace heroic leap. But man these ptr changes are likely to nuke us in pvp. And that’s not great considering atm there only like 15 players NA that are above 2400 in blitz, and we cant even do proper flag carries due to other classes mobility.
They’re taking away options by superficially adding them. Who tf is gonna take Dragon Charge over Leap if this goes through? Are they gonna take Guardian Druid’s unique Charge/knock back pvp talent and give it to feral too and make it replace Feral Charge or Dash? Because this change is just as dumb as that would be if not more so.
I doubt that anyone of consequence at Blizz is reading this forum, much less this thread, but if they are it isn’t too late to undo this absurd change.
Shield Charge a caster, stunning them for 4s, and probably causing them to burn a trinket
Then Dragon Charge the caster who probably doesnt have too many moving and casting abilities until they land
Then hit them with a Heroic Leap with Warbringer and stun them for 1.5s
Now hit them with a Piercing Howl, which lasts 8s
Then if they decide to cast, maybe hit them with a Shield Bash, resetting their CD
Now an Earthquaker Shockwave knockup
Then if you still want to be annoying, there’s Intimidating Shout, for another round of cancer, and by this time, you’ll probably find SC, DC, and HL are coming off their CDs so you can be cancerous all over again!
Overall, its annoying as hell to encounter currently, and I think the changes are going to be good for the game, and they should keep them.
If I was to ask for a change, I’d advocate that they simply remove Dragon Charge altogether - it’s a legacy talent, which has zero utility in CTF games because it reduces the charge range to like 6 yards when you have the flag (usually as the tank)…
You mean Warpath, Which even then requires an entirely different PvP talent point to run.
So they’re locking in both Warpath and Dragon Charge, so they can only then pick one more PvP talent.
Realistically speaking tanks should be annoying af to everyone including casters since blizzard will not buff their damage output to make them useful as dps in PvP, while also nerfing their defensive capabilities to be that of dps so they’re not the defacto PvP choice for classes who have Tank/DPS specs to choose from.
Right now the proposed Dragon Charge change places it into a dead talent, which is questionable as well as all the other PvP talent changes they’ve made for the next PTR build in lowering keybinds some of which are really bad as they remove skill expression entirely and kill off current strategies around using said PvP talent, an example is Sharpen Blade for Arms, you never send it with CS if you’re smart, you always sent it on a later MS when you’ve taken a chunk out of them first so the healer struggles to heal halfway through your go.
Honestly the PvP balance and design has been awful since DF introduced Solo Shuffle and they’ve just added the most asinine PvP talents to a lot of classes.
Why would I do that? Warrior is about as braindead as it goes, Fury is basically spamming 3 buttons, same for Arms… When they successfully remove more buttons from Prot, I can safely say the class becomes more braindead and simple…
Every other class has entire orders of magnitude in complexity over Warrior…
