In the latest build voicefiles have appeared that make Bwonsamdi a traitor, he only protects the Zandalari souls and would even have sacrificed Vol’Jin to the Maw if he hadn’t become too attached to our world. In other words, he has betrayed the Darkspears.
Why? I mean in the first mention, Bwonsamdi was worshipped by the Darkspears, only by them, he was their great loa, the whole tribe worshipped Bwonsamdi. So what now?
I don’t know what you think, but in my eyes that’s just nonsense. He should have another priority.
First his believers who empower and strengthen him, then the others.
Shadows Rising does show that he’s been focusing on saving all troll souls from the Maw and he ends up admitting this to both Zekhan and Talanji. Furthermore he personally rescued Zekhan from the Maw, which is what led to the reveal.
So you didn’t personally see it yourself but someone you know in discord did and you have decided that they are correct.
I’m reminded of how wow sites, I believe wowhead was among them, were saying that Calia snuck in the Gathering in Arathi when in reality Calia was invited by Anduin. So it’s possibly that a word of mouth occurred and your discord buddy got caught in the crossfire of it.
After all as mentioned before Shadows Rising revealed that Bwonsamdi was been saving all trolls and personally rescued Zekhan from the Maw and shoved his soul back into his body. Furthermore Bwonsamdi outright called Vol’jin one of his favorites in Shadows of the Horde.
I listened and Mueh’zala declared his intention to consume Bwonsamdi’s followers and then him. The dialogue never stated or demonstrated that he did consume said followers. The growl could easily have just been being wounded or starting his attack.
Thus Mueh’zala’s focus on the Zandalari doesn’t immediately mean that Bwonsamdi abandoned his other followers. In case you forgot Nathanos, Apari, and forces killed plenty of followers in their quest to weaken and kill Bwonsamdi. So Mueh’zala could have easily been focused on those souls., especially ones with a pact with him like Rastakhan.
Furthermore when it comes down to it, within the game and novels most followers of Bwonsamdi are Zandalari. As a matter of fact the only confirmed Darkspear to interact with Bwonsamdi is Vol’jin, who Bwonsamdi pals around with during the Night Fae covenant quest chain.
Edit: Before anyone mentions, I did space Bwonsamdi interacted with Zekhan in Shadows Rising. So I’ll amend my statement… We barely see any Darkspear trolls interact with Bwonsamdi. There’s Vol’jin, Zekhan, and Shadow Hunter Ty’jin on the Banshee’s Wail mentions buying a Zandalari idol to Bwonsamdi.
And right after that he said, “and you.” So at the very least it’s a declaration.
You see this as Mueh’zala feeding on his followers and then the fight happening, I see this as Mueh’zala declaring that he’ll feed on the followers and Bwonsamdi and then the fight happening.
Thus until De Other Side is open for testing, we are left with our interpretation of events.
Edited reply: Moving what I just edited here, as a response to the post below.
Shadow Hunter Ty’jin on the Banshee’s Wail talks about how both the Zandalari and Darkspear worship Bwonsamdi. But the Zandalari worship is not universal like the statements implies. Thus the same could be said of the Darkspear. Which has merit considering that Darkspear in AU Nagrand worship another loa of death known as Samedi.
And while the names are similar, the fact of the matter is that there are loa with similar titles. Like Akunda and Shango* being referred to as the Loa of Storms.
Furthermore the way the tribes worship the loa is different. The Zandalari generally focus on one loa, the Darkspear praise multiple loa. And thus while individuals (Zandalari,Darkspear, etc…) who solely praise Bwonsamdi would be one of his followers, it is unknown how multiple loa worship factors into that system or how other loa would view it.
Name revealed from the description of Shadow Hunter Kajassa’s ability Shadowy Blessing of Shango - The Loa of Storm’s blessing bestows a turbulent stealth that cannot be seen or heard by enemies.
Man remember that time Garrosh apparently destroyed all Theramores in all alternate dimensions? All cause one dude who got the book early said so and people just would not let it go for months?
Well maybe you don’t remember, maybe you do, but people do like to cling onto misinformation.
I say this being totally guilty of having done it myself.
