Keep in mind he is directly inspired by the actual Voodouan Loa of Death Samedi, sometimes called Baron Samedi, often shortened to Bwon’samedi (look it up, this is true).
It’s very likely it’s the same entity.
He was Darkspear Patron for years already, his contract was renewed by the end of WotLK.
It definitely feels like they gave Talanji all of Vol’jin’s character beats.
Not really, the only thing which she has in common with Vol’Jin is that she is tied to Bwonsamdi (and not willingly, as it was enforced on her) and that she thinks about the future of their kind and stepping out of their comfort zone.
It’s super willingly, now.
She didn’t have a choice, Bwonsamdi was enforced on her, it took her entire book to finally get along with him and appreciate his work. It’s a character arc.
But Vol’Jin still had a different traits and feasts. He was shadow hunter and he was battling other tribes before and he was super pro Horde. Talanji is nationalist first, and she would always priotize her Zandalari.
It’s like Saying that Rokhan is taking over Vol’jin traits because he is shadow hunter, and a chieftain, and all of that now.
And I believe he is more than carbon copy of Vol’Jin.
She has a choice now as of Roux’s book. And she’s working with him and will unite all of the troll tribes.
Bwonsamdi offered to break the deal and Talanji chose to keep it, so its her choice now to be bound to Bwon.
Well in the book, but Originally she didn’t have any say in this which was the reason why she was annoyed in his presence.
Not necessarily. While Talanji would welcome the other tribes joining under the Zandalari, we’ve seen that mindset of the Zandalari viewing the tribes as lesser and wanting them to work under them over working with them. And while the Zandalari is under new management, the tribes do have long memories and could decide to not risk it.
On the flip side the Darkspear are more inclined to work with the other tribes. Something that I feel is highlighted by the fact how people can play as different tribes now with the Jungle Troll model. Like how unity of the dwarven clans is seen more now with people being able to play as Bronzebeard, Dark Iron, and Wildhammer.
