Give me my Zandalari Troll. Quit time gating every single thing in this God forsaken game. I bought BfA, now give me what I paid for.
I knew this was going to happen today hahaha. everyone was convinced it was the new patch and blizzard really didn’t clearly say it wasn’t. It was obvious people thought it was by looking at the forums a few days before release, now blizzard is trying to not say it’s not directly so people don’t get even madder but the pitchforks and torches are starting to appear. Rabble Rabble Rabble.
They should’ve been available when BfA went live. Not 6 months down the road.
I agree. all I am saying is I said to my dad who also plays that this very scenario was going to take place today because they didn’t communicate that this was a season very well. I am just too burnt out from wow to really care anymore. something like ten years of the same game has numbed me to disappointments.
Yeah, I just now found out they’re time gated like everything else. Activision is REALLY trying to stretch out the subs.
But we have known since november that they would not be available until 8.1.5 so you could have been playing another game all this time.
Which really isn’t working. LFR is getting long wait times and that’s just for DPS, not tank or healer. In the two Uldir wings I tried to do we had to wait a long time to fill up more DPS slots. Never had this problem in previous expansions.
This honestly is the worst feeling of these new patch cycles.
“Patch days” can mean little to nothing for certain classes/specs by seeing no changes, then “raid release” days can mean nothing to little for people with no interest in raiding.
Patches felt a lot more meaningful back in the day cause it appeared to add in content for all at one time, letting people make the choice of which to do first, or giving everyone a reason to sign in.
Even if you say it’s not the goal of Blizzard as a company, it does feel way to time gated now.
Here’s 8.2!!! but the raid won’t be out for a few weeks, not really sure why though?
- No quests or anything lead me to believe we were assembling for this attack.
- No epic in game events that I’m aware of?
- Gathering supplies seems to be for an endless back and forth event in parts of the world that don’t hold any value, or at least appear to hold value. Why do we even want Arathi? Is it to prevent an eventual attack on Silvermoon?
Why aren’t the alliance stocking up their armada in Boralus? (actual in game)
But, but, but, youre taking it literally… Dont believe as what we say. Say what as I do…? LOL. And I think they learned how to gate content like a boss how Niantic is doing PokemonGo to give that feeling of having content trickle effect. When its literally crap.
I should really just wait for my sub to die down UNTIL Pathfinder is out, THEN ill have plenty of stuffs to do. Not this gated crap when its only good for a hot minute then youre bored, nothing else to do again.
It is very disappointing that you are timegating two core allied races of this expansion, i resubbed only because i wanted to play Zandalari but now i have to wait more than a month now to able to play them.
i think the main problem is that before today and still its not clear when they will be released so a lot of people i’m sure re subbed today thinking that they would be able to unlock them cause again, not clear if they would be available today or not. so now they feel that they wasted money on it.
I don’t know how much more clear “coming in 8.1.5” could have been…
It’s cheap entertainment, but I will continue to timegate my subscription just to show my displeasure. Mostly I’m irritated at the fact that I’m not distracted with leveling a Zandalari while they make the end game rewarding and engaging again.
Can you honestly say you didn’t see this happening today?
For everyone else…
My guess is, they’re gonna do what they did with the new raid, wait a month or two exactly after the launch of the raid to introduce the new races so people sub up again. It’s the exact same crap they did with 8.1 and the month leading up to the raid.
Customer Service 101:
Creating expectations you cannot meet (i.e. overselling and underdelivering) may disappoint and anger your customers, so dont’ do it. But if you fail to meet a target you thought you could hit, you can still win back good will if you make pleasing your customer and finding a solution your priority.
Blizz failed on both counts this time. Not only were playable Zandalari not available at the beginning of the xpac (and please, let’s not pretend that they weren’t a major selling point to many people for this otherwise shabby expansion), but by all accounts, the models on the PTR are a still a hot mess.
Instead of working hard to get Zandalari out ASAP after launch, Blizz kicked the can down the road and they’re still not close to finished all these months later. That makes it seem like there was never a serious intention to include them at launch, and people feel lied to. So each time a patch or mid-patch update comes up and there’s still no Zandalari (even if people know it’s not until 8.1.5, whenever that is), it’s more salt in the wound.
The promotion of BfA’s “planned features” has proved to be a hype train to nowhere, a cynical exercise in smoke-and-mirrors marketing, a scheme to hoodwink players. I guess I’m trying to say that I’m not happy about it.
Remember last time we had to wait half of the expac do rep and quest to play a new race?
So I hope I have understood it corre tly ? Getting the achievement tides of venegeance and being exalted with zandalari or proudmoore is enough to unlock allied races ? No need for me to do that dazalhor or whatever it is called raid ?
Correct no need to do Siege of Zul’gramar.
Well good to know .
I understand I misunderstood that the new patch wasn’t releasing today(although Blizzard’s announcement was vaguely worded) but I logged on today looking forward to creating a Zandalari Druid and exploring my favorite lower level zones with him. I look forward to playing the Vol’jin questline that I thought was included in this patch because the entire thing was on the PTR months ago according to wowhead. Instead, I played through all new quest content in 1hr 30 minutes, just like I played through the Saurfang and war campaign before in under an hour. I may spend a few hours raiding, but for the first time the dissatisfaction of waiting for new content that is arbitrarily time gated decreases my interest in doing other activities. I don’t feel like the $15 I just spent was worth the time I’ll spend playing this month. From my perspective, it looks like they’ve tried to resolve the content drought of expansion end by spreading it out into miniscule releases. I don’t think that’s the solution we were looking for. I don’t see why I shouldn’t unsub and wait until December or next January when all the content is released(including things announced as a key feature, like the allied races.) Then I can play for 2-3 months of game time and get my money’s worth, instead of multiple months of disappointment and wasted money. Currently, that’s what I think I’m going to do. See y’all next year!
