Does trying to get Flawless runs infuriate anyone else?

So, like many others, I’m slogging through Torghast. Not for the Soul Ash/Cinders, but because the Box of Many Things rewards a pet when you max it out. So I’m working on that. (The fact the box isn’t account-wide, even in 9.1.5 makes me annoyed, tbh)

I don’t -care- about getting Flawless 12s, but they’re nice, because they reward extra knowledge, and I wouldn’t -mind- the mount.

This week has 2 wings I still need the achievement for too, so I figure win win. Wrong.

First I do Coldheart. I have to restart like 6 times because of stupid deaths from knockbacks that were no where near me knocking me off the edge, one mob hitting me with an unavoidable attack for 71k, instantly killing me (???), etc.

But I finally get a decent run. I’m on floor 4. I get near the end, have to backtrack because there’s one of those locked chests and I found the last key at the end. I run back to go to the last floor… and fall through the stairs. I go back, I door of shadows past where I fell… only to fall to my death again.

So this time I door of shadows x2 and demonic gateway up the stairs and complete the run. 184. -20 for a death. I would’ve had a Flawless. At this point, I’m aggravated. So I run Soulforges.

I have bad timing with one of the Maw Enforcers knockback and when my Infernals came out, so he sent them flying into every other mob in the room. I manage to run away and avoid dying, but it wasted my empowerment and a good minute and a half.

I finish the run. 198 points.

I’m genuinely overly frustrated with this poor scoring system. I can’t be the only one, right? You get actively rewarded for avoiding the epic powers some classes/specs rely on to finish torghast in a timely manner, you get rewarded for not getting duplicate powers, even though some classes only have a couple decent powers. You get forced to RUSH RUSH RUSH through in order to beat the par time, and you get forced to try to figure out when the best time to use Empowerment is to maximize how many enemies you can RUSH through while it’s up.

This whole system is just so anti-fun to me, and I’ll be glad once the box is finished and I can stop running it.

Anyone else get annoyed at trying for flawless?

I keep dying on the rank 12s lowering my scores. I ain’t even gonna try until I grind out more research. The score makes it so you want to time stuff and not die, the old torgast was better. Not to mention they recommend you do it with mythic raiding gear. That mount will have to wait till I get all the talents basically and then for the weeks I do the 12s because I don’t feel like grinding the talents now lol…

Yes, I don’t do Torghast.

Yes I used to be, but I’m just sticking to lower ones for now I’ll be able to upgrade my stuff eventually without wanting to stop doing Torghast.

My Warlock has unlocked the final 2 traits. She only has basic ones left like elites give more to the empowered bar and such.

Doesn’t change how bad the scoring system is lol

One of my main tips in attempting to get flawless is checking daily wat the blessings are. Some of the Blessings like the Overflowing Power can do more damage then you character on your own is capable of. Other powers like the stacking CD reduction per kill are extremely helpful you blaze though a floor.

In addition to that if you have the large Shadow explosions when empowered you can easily decimate large groups. With all that said picking a class and or spec can be very important. Some spec have a much harder time due to less then stellar power pools that makes it harder to maintain consistency between runs. A prime example of that would be BM and MM hunters. Survival has pretty great AOE that translates well to torghast and there power pool while not the best is passable.

To make things as easy as possbile your best bet is to form a group and look for people with there boxes maxed out and looking to get flawless as well. If you make a group with a set goal your likely to find others with the same goal in mind. If everyone has empowered novas… GG

Sounds like a bug with you falling though the floor — it’s frustrating enough without that happening

Some are super unfun for me, like Mort. Mort will be the last one I flawless on 12 because it is a pain in the buns without a reliable, not 1 min, interrupt.

It’s the “Sucks to be a caster” layer :frowning:

It is, it’s been reported quite a bit in the Bug Report forums, but this was the first time I’ve had it happen to me personally.

It was like 2 hours ago and I’m still mad at the game. I lost a flawless for one of my least 2 favorite wings of Torghast to a bug. -.-

Someone hasn’t done Coldheart Interstitia when one of the Torments is Bombardment. xD

You have to move like 6 seconds out of every 10. It’s ridiculous as a caster.

I hearted your post out of sense of camaraderie and empathy - because I can only imagine how wrecked I would feel having a game bug ruin what would have otherwise been a five star run. Flawless runs are frustratingly difficult as it is.

No. In fact, I specifically ran after all 12’s flawless as quick as I could and as soon as I thought I could, and I finished it last week. So I’m pretty much done with Torghast for the remainder of this patch. Finished off the talent tree too.

Even as a boomie I’d rather wiggle around than deal with those damn ghosts, especially the layout where you grapple to the tiny platforms and instantly everyone wants you dead.

Add in a damage up torment (magical, physical, either it seems) and it just ends up feeling… unfair.

Once you get the ravenous power its a little better but shouldn’t need one to make a floor enjoyable. Had the same issue with Soul forges when it was constant fire ticking.

Yea I thought about that. They really need to add more fun bonuses. Right now the bonuses are like, make this harder for yourself and you get more score! But don’t die! Or else no adamant vaults for you!

I will say, being able to reroll a selection of anima powers 3 times a run is great, especially in the beginning.

I know I’m a shaman and have it easier than others, but today I got offered only epic powers and forgot I could reroll so I just took one.

By the end of the run I still ended with like 250 points. I’m not trying to humble brag, honestly I’ve been dead set on avoiding every epic power just to get some more score. Point here being is that taking an epic power will more than likely not ruin your points.

If you are getting bugged deaths that does suck. Overall though, just get whatever powers are good and try to go for things like killing two elites within 10 seconds of each other and empowering things you know you can kill for points (or things you know you couldn’t kill without).

I do agree the scoring system sucks. I would have just kept the don’t die 5 times or else thing and let people go at their own pace, a lot more up players alley than timed content.
