It’s been a hot minute, but wasn’t it established when the Draenei crashed into Draenor, Velen’s visions ceased? He was still venerated as a prophet, but his glimpses of the future were cut off and he was blind as anyone to what was to come?
It was pretty much always like this in all expansions.
I just replayed the Pandaren intro zone, and I can tell you, it is awfully difficult to follow Ji instead of Aysa. He is dumber than a box of rocks and she is literally Yoda.
I picked Horde at the end because I wanted a Horde character but there is absolutely no reason for doing so.
Then, in the jade forest after, horde are clearly the aggressors, there is no ifs and buts about it…
Sorry, I just keep imagining you waking up in the morning, looking in the mirror and in all seriousness to yourself saying 'You know what would be a really awesome name? Taserface!
Good news, everyone! I’ve just invented some face mounted tasers, so that name no longer has to be metaphorical!
none of the things that the draenei have supposedly crashed actually crashed because of draenei.
the genedar: naaru “engine” went out, no choice but to crash land
the exodar: blood elves sabotaged it
the xenedar: shot down in combat
the fact that even blizzard keeps adding in “haha they’re bad pilots!” jokes is criminal.
at this point it is pretty clear how blizzard treats draenei as a group, though. which leads to stuff like this:
Welcome to WarCraft. We’ve got Gnomes that have access to highly radioactive materials in weaponized forms and the entire race is played for laughs.
Yeah uh
They crash-landed on Draenor. Naaru ran out of batteries and the genedar crashed.
I’d understand what you were saying if they’d actively colonised Draenor or something… but they didn’t. They arrived by accident and made the best of a bad situation. Even upon doing so, they respected the holdings of the native people, building around not over them. They had good and peaceful relations with the orcs, even engaging in some trade. At the very least they peacefully coexisted for a couple hundred years.
As for the Prophet thing… Velen’s visions, as I understand it, are often vague and unspecific. Flashes of the future, not a comprehensive picture… and not always what comes to pass. He may not have even received flashes of the bad stuff with the orcs - maybe just the good. Or nothing at all
I think it’s a pretty bad take to blame the Draenei for the Path of Glory, personally. They acted peacefully and courteously at every turn, only to be annihilated for no reason. Blizzard paints it as a bad thing for a reason - it was, no matter what faction you love to play.
Mogo wonder if possible make some for Mogo hat?
Let’s not forget even when they made the Draenei “evil”, they’re never shown to actually be killing the Mag’har. Just putting them in a suspended animation sort of thing.
The Mag’har, meanwhile, had forcibly enslaved the Ogres and routinely had to put down rebellions.
Yikes. Hard disagree.
They crashed, it wasn’t purposeful. Did Velen even see that as a vision? We don’t know. And even if he did… that’s definitely not what they signed up for and they were already there.
Velen didn’t. He was suffering from an injury per Chronicles. Lacked his foresight. It’s only during the Siege of Karabor it came back and he managed a miraculous saving throw in getting the few Draenei out while Shadowmoon / Gul’dan called the Dark Star to rain down upon it.
Note to self. Jokes about prophets have a history of not ending well.
Should have…
… Seen it coming.
Noooooo, no not really. The Draenei in the Mag’har scenario are flat out stated to be capturing and brainwashing the orcs when they stop getting willing converts.
Not saying the Draenei in general are evil, because they’re not, but the coolaid apparently now comes in lemonade is what the Mag’har scenario established.
To start with, I do like this game. Someone anon msgd me in-game and said I’m too negative on the forums. I criticize this game, precisely because I know it can be better and it’s disappointing when it’s not.
This is what they do when they don’t know how to write. They turn things into a joke or just outright ignore them. I don’t play any Draenei, but man what a brilliant race that is often dismissed and forgotten.
Look at Uldum. We got this beautiful desert landscape that could have had an equally beautiful Tol’vir / Wastewander story. Instead, we got a zone-wide Indiana Jones parody, complete with Commander Schnottz and a litany of endless “Inglorious” memes.
A couple jokes would’ve been fine, not the entire zone.
When Bed Intruder was referenced, I sighed really hard.
Haha, gnomes with advanced tech lost to troggs playing minecraft…
ok obligatory jab at gnomes out of the way, the issue is not that gnomes are incompetent, it’s that the moment you drop magic in, the rules of how we expect technology to be are yeeted out a window.
-I- personally think we should acknowledge that as a race with overall smaller population and resources than most their counterparts, they have been able to thrive following their own self-made disaster.
like when your space ship you hopped on when self exiling crashes into a planet of people who are corrupted as a means to get back at yo-…
sprays bad!
Just going to leave this here regarding Garrosh.
