What the title says. To achieve “regular” status, do we need to read 20,000 original posts or 20 post threads with 1k + comments?
I’m not sure what you’re asking, but this is the list:
I’m asking if each reply I read counts as a post or if just the whole thread counts as one post.
“post” = comment/reply
Pro Tip:
When you are reading a thread, each reply in that thread has a little blue dot (next to when it was posted) once that dot disappears it counts as “read”.
Each post is a post read. An entire thread is not one post. Unless there’s only one post in it. lol
Okay, so just a scroll through one of the meta lounge threads should do it, at least the first time.
I don’t think even the most active forum users are reading 20,000 threads. Although this is probably one of those numbers that goes up a lot faster than you may realize.
If you read one of the rapidly expanding but ephemeral political threads before it disappears, I wonder if those still count?
The mega threads help, but do note that you have to also read 500 unique thread topics in the span of 100 days too. So if you just bank on 3 big threads, you’ll hit the 20k post read count but miss the 500 different thread topics.
Well count me out of ever gaining trust level 3.
God forbid I post a link or a gif. THE HORROR!!!
This companies moderation is sad and so very one sided.
But I pay to play in their world. So it’s either behave properly or get hit with the hammer of the ancients.
It’s not clear whether the 5 flags are for the past 100 days or for all time.
Trust Level requirement are just ridiculous tbh.
Specially cause they decay with inactivity, it just isnt worth it.
Mind you it’s been a few years since I’ve been around regularly but you used to just be able to lock your mouse and auto scroll down massive threads to “read” them.
This isn’t a Blizzard thing, it’s a Discourse thing. Blizz is using their software package. They do most of the moderation, as well, I believe. The trust levels are base Discourse setup.
But yes, grinding forum rep and then having to maintain it is dumb.
you need to spend a certain amount of time on each post or else it won’t count. Just scrolling through rapidly isn’t going to do it.
There are blue dots to the right of the time stamp that need to go away to get credit, i.e. a post made 1m ago will show 1m and have a blue dot to the right
I wouldn’t sweat the Trust 3 honestly.
The maintenance is annoying and you can’t really post anything funny without immediately losing your status.
lmao.
If i hit 20k does it mean i can post links again lol
Maybe. My post count remained. So, I am assuming the read count would too.
As has been said – this includes comments / replies, not just the OP / Thread.
Also worth noting that it’s technically 25% of all posts made in the last 100 days, but with a cap of 20,000 posts. I’m unsure if the WoW Forums actually have the 80,000 posts per 100 days to make us need 20,000 posts read or not.
Doesn’t really change how you need to go about it though.
Make sure you mind the blue dot, like Cazadori said. If you set it to autoscroll or something you have to go VERY slow because each post has to be on the screen for a good 3s or so to count as “read” / for that dot to go away.
And make sure you’re using posts made in the last 100 days. Easy to miss that and scroll through the beginning of an old megathread for no benefit.
At the top of the GD forum page, you’ll see a catagorical list for threads.
Top, New, Unread and latest then Blizz Tracker.
If you want to cheese the 20k just go to Unread and that number next to it are all the unread threads/posts that were made.
Click on them, scroll to the bottom and close it out. Then do another til that number next to Unread decreases or is gone.
That’s how you can fill that quota.
I only figured this out because that number bothered me so I do this just to get rid of it. Weird, I know but that’s how I roll.
