Not talking about the boost. Does straight leveling, questing or time to take hit 1-58/60 faster in pre-patch? Going through forums I saw someone mention this, people were saying it isn’t a waste of time level now. But you could level something 30 and wait, also saw people saying level the things you want to play to 11? Like, am I out here grinding for nothing lmao??? Does really get easier or what’s happening?
It does. There’s a 30% reduction in required XP needed from 1-60 that happened in 2.3, which will be live in Classic TBC. But the earlier you level, the more time you have during prepatch.
On top of that, everything gets easier with TBC class changes.
It’s about an overall 30% speed increase for 1-60:
2.3.0
- The amount of experience needed to gain a level has been decreased between levels 20 and 60. In addition, the amount of experience granted by quests has been increased between levels 30 and 60.
- Level 1-60 dungeon quests have had their experience and faction rewards increased.
- Many elite creatures and quests in the level 1-60 experience have been changed to accommodate solo play.
Edit: If you’re trying to decide if you should wait to level an alt or a new main, you can basically go ahead and level to 20 with 0 loss or even 30 and only loose about 3-5% efficiency over waiting until pre-patch. Also, remember that mounts are lvl 30 after pre-patch too.
Don’t we also get the new questing hubs in the pre patch like mudsprocket or do we have to wait for TBC to actually launch?
Good question! No idea. I haven’t seen anyone in beta really testing anything in the old world as they seem to be obsessed with all the “new” outlands stuff :(. I did see a post about how desolace is completely empty right now on beta lol
Part of the reason why I want TBC is for the Dustwhollow quests. I never played classic back in the day and when I got to the zone I was shocked and saddened to see some of my fav questlines were not apart of classic like the Defias chain and the Grimtotem parts of the shady rest inn.
That’s actually nuts… I started playing at the end of TBC. Thought leveling seemed slower in Classic. I now know why. Thanks for your help (:
Totally agree. Some of the new chains are fantastic. My guess would be that they come with the prepatch. Those quests are lvl 34+ if i remember right so you’ll still be safe if you stop at lvl 30. Basically up to lvl 20 is unchanged either way.
It’s way more than the 30%.
Classic leveling is slow because of travel, less flight points, and mounts at 40.
So not only does the prepatch reduce the xp needed to level to 60 but it also allows you to buy mounts at 30 and it adds questing hubs and flight paths.
I’d say it’s prolly closer to 50% faster than classic 1-60.
Didn’t really think about the flight points and an extra 10 levels of mounted travel (i played a lot of classes with movement bonuses at 20) so you’re probably right. I was just pointing out that nothing really changes 1-20 between the two and things don’t really start to accelerate until around lvl 30.
Riding is cheaper too, someting like 30 or 35g if I recall. If gold is an issue for some.
Levelling is about twice as fast. You can do 1-58 in 3 days /played on patch 2.4.3. On 1.12, 5-6 days /played is a really fast time to 58.
Less exp needed to level, more exp from quests, classes play better especially at level 40+, mounts at 30, dungeons are reworked to have a narrower level range (i.e. not like Uldaman), lower level dungeon blues are much stronger, majority of elite quests become soloable. All of these effects compound in to each other.
When did they make the change to gathering where it’s not as slow as it is in classic, and you grabbed all the ore from one hit at the node.
So if I try leveling 52-60 before the prepatch, I am essentially pissing time away?
I’m leveling right now. Even with finding out the news about level squish. Pretty relaxing peaceful time. Got not better to do (: Might as well right. The way I look at it is less stuff to level later, also gives you time to catch up on profession if you level now.
edit: TBH play now before the community sucks all the fun out by fighting over the boost.
Logged in to double check.
Mudsprocket is in. As well as its flight point.
There are also the new NPC’s at Tabetha’s Farm with a quest hub.
I mean, if you don’t have anything else to do, there’s not much harm pushing to 60. (And you get more of a chance to gear up to make the first few levels in Outland easier.) However, if you’re thinking of starting some alts, getting them to 20-30 is probably a better use of your time right now.
My alts will be parked at 30 or less until the pre-patch.
My warrior is already there. I have a warlock and a hunter that are in their way. I might also roll a shamam for the hell of it.
I’m board so I’ve been completing quests but not turning them in. I hope the bonus exp counts when i turn all of them in.
It’s 30% less xp (not exp you runescaper) per level. So… yes. Saving your quest turn ins is a good idea.
