Does Holly Longdale know about Guild Bank wipes?

Guild Banks are a bit dodgy at the moment.

I have a lot of Bankers for all the stuff I collect. I read that the Guild Bank losses mainly centred around old materials, and I was lucky and didn’t lose anything because all my mats are kept in my many Banker’s Reagent Tabs.

My Bankers hold stuff like grey flavour text treasures, books, stuff removed from the game, gear, rep stuff, quest stuff, and letters.

One of my Bankers has seven tabs of battle pets, and all of these are generic white cages and say…

Pet Cage.
Battle Pet.
Use : Teaches you how to summon this pet.
THIS WAS NEVER AVAILABLE TO PLAYERS.

So I have no idea what they are unless I take them out.

It just all seems a bit compromised to me, and I worry about my precious collections of crap!

What possible reason would they have to purposely not restore data that they have?

Whatever bug killed the data killed the data. If the data was retrievable, they would’ve restored it like they have many, many, many times before. Why wouldn’t they? Just “lol, let’s not give them anything back for the lulz?”

Crazy to think some of you are adults.

you mean Microsoft

I think the best we can hope for is that people were fired over this and that it never happens again. Because this is definitely an oversight or mistake that someone should be fired over. Probably the biggest data loss in the history of WoW and there was basically no compensation for it.

Having been gone since BFA one thing I immediately noticed upon returning was how buggy the game is now. It isn’t just a little buggier than I can ever remember it being but it is significantly more buggy. And I haven’t been effected by any major bugs like the guild bank that are coloring my opinion. Just scores of little things that should be fixed that aren’t.

At least they don’t actively sell player data like final fantasy does.

Sometimes even backups break. The amount of money a company makes doesn’t mean what you think it does. Merging databases will almost always come with risks. The bank system went through some pretty big changes with the addition of warbands. Regardless, the fact is that the data is gone, and they can’t retrieve it. It sucks but the only option is to move on.

I don’t think that a CEO does micro-management and looks into individual bugs of a product.

I would expect that Holly Longdale looks into revenue, statistics of subscriptions and future roadmap of WoW instead of technical details.

My thoughts exactly.

Heck I just had items disappear from the warbank last week. Was storing some battle pet stones and after swapping to a different character and server to grab something else from the bank, they weren’t there. Swapped back and they are still gone. Granted it was a couple of gold lost, but it’s still a bug nonetheless.

The corporate bootlicking on the forums is insane.
Of course billion dollar companies screw up, why would that make it a good thing and why shouldn’t people ask for rectifications? We should all just bend over backwards gleefully for them?

Come on, it’s digital stuff in wow, Blizz can do way more to make things right

There’s a megathread you could drop this question in. Also, if you don’t think everyone from Ion to the Janitor has not heard about this, you likely don’t know how QA reporting works. They know, there’s just nothing they can or will do about it. Folks should start unsubbing if this is their only reason to be here. It’s a bank vault. It is gone. Get some perspective.

Disagreeing with a vague conspiracy post that was inferring some kind of intent and coverup of the incident isn’t corporate bootlicking.

There isn’t a single person saying this.

Like what? They can’t just go by the honor system and tell people to send them a list of items they are missing. What’s going to make people happy? Game time? Gold?

What are some examples?

yea it is and they decided it wasnt worth it.

You do realize that you pay for access and thats it right?

They dont have to help you at all, everything that was lost is theirs anyhow.
