Does druid get worse?

He said Feral does better DPS than other healer DPS specs which is true, given that you farm Pummelers before each raid and powershift. Elemental/Moonkin/Shadow/Enhancement/Retribution don’t reach optimal cat DPS.

Optimal cat DPS is actually fairly underrated, it’s just a pain to play and is still not great for all of the work you do.

Druids are not really great for endgame raids. Their best role is probably bear offtank. Resto is good but you don’t really need more than one or two, and you can survive without any as long as you have a druid somewhere.

The “ideal” druid progression path would be spec for PvP, join a raid and work super hard to justify your position in the raid, get a bunch of DPS gear everyone will hate you for taking, and then go be strong in PvP. Balance and Feral Resto hybrid are both really strong pvp specs that bring a lot of versatility and utility, but the only way to get the gear you need to make it work (which is fairly high level due to all of the stats you need) is in BWL+ (mostly AQ40). Or you can wait for phase 100 and get Feralheart.

MCP is actually still better than Atiesh.

The earliest FAP weapon you can obtain drops from the green dragons. After that, you can get one for being exalted with the Cenarion Circle in Silithus and turning in a bunch of mats that you can get from AQ20. There’s the AQ40 quest reward that everyone will fight over, and then End of Dreams in Naxxramas.

The FAP weapons are PvP weapons, or good for raids you have on farm already. For progression you’ll pretty much be bound to MCP if you want to compete.

We all wish there was a more accessible option but those are basically your only choices.

is there any validity to going to a raid as feral spec in full healing gear as a healer? since healing touch is the only spell you cast anyway and only taking feral dps gear no one else wants ?

no aweendil said and this is the part im laughing about

see this does not limit it to just the hybrids its calming than the pure and it’s just not im sorry warriors and priest would like to have a word with you.

it’s not underrated hybrids in van/classic were not taken for mainline task they were always off task ie the off tank, off healer roles. and you took them for their utility ie motw, WF, MT, inv, seals etc etc etc. they never beat out the pures

Raw dps, no. You’ll be worse at higher levels. But, you do have the innervate healers need, bres, and even though your feral, hurricane is still decent (relatively speaking) aoe dps but it takes a good chunk of your mana. But you’re good as long as people don’t suddenly need offheals and poison cures

I mean, for bear or PvP spec, yes. 0/30/21 can be both a good tanking spec and a good healing spec.

For full cat, no. First, cat DPS needs Natural Weapons and Omen of Clarity, which is a 14 point investment into balance. You won’t have any improved healing talents or NS. You won’t have the option to pick up reflection, which will lead to mana problems. Etc.

It is underrated. The damage wasn’t as tragic as its’ often made out to be. It’s obviously not as good as “pureblood” classes but it’s not atrocious or anything. Relax, Voldemort.

i have nothing against hybrids dude hell i play a shammy from time to time. i was pointing out the fact because the person i was responding to made the claim that they were the best TANK and best HEALER T1 which is a false claim. and i’m calling them pure and hybrid because put a clear line on what im talking about.

Feral Druid is a B or C tier DPS class. MCP farm gives Cat very good weapon scaling, and powershifting + wolfshead helm gives them reasonably good burst and sustained damage in short fights.

Cat has the problems most hybrids do, which are sustain, gear, and the debuff limit. On short fights or fights where you can innervate yourself, you can powershift for the entire fight and pump out some seriously respectable damage. On longer fights things get worse.

Second is gear. Feral Attack Power weapons are rare and even if you can obtain one, you’re still better off farming Manual Crowd Pummelers because of the 1.0 second swing timer druids have. 50% attack speed will always be better than +attack power when your swing speed is so fast (which is not necessarily a good thing). Additionally, it’s hard to find gear that provides the stats they want and two of your slots will pretty much always be used by level 30-something blues, which is sort of a bummer.

Finally there’s debuffs: Rip and Rake are the Druid’s best-scaling attacks but the boss only has 16 available debuff slots. Not much else to say, you can’t always even use those abilities.

The nice thing about feral compared to the other hybrids is that you are viable for most content due to the fact that your damage is physical and thus can’t be resisted by certain raids or dungeons. There aren’t fights where you just can’t do your job like for say Elemental or Enhancement. Leader of the Pack is also a really good buff. MCP+powershifting cat with the LOTP buff often works out mathematically to being better than just putting another rogue in the melee group.

It depends on your perspective.

Do you want a class/player who can jump into multiple roles as needed? Druid is awesome.

Do you want to be topping DPS meters and not thinking about anything else? Druid will not be awesome.

Hybrid doing multiple things well is a druid. Having a tank that can DPS when needed, toss a heal or battle rez and innervate if needed - super clutch. They aren’t a pure DPS class though and that’s okay.

If you judge a fish on it’s ability to climb a tree you’re going to be disappointed.

I agree, if you picked Druid to top charts you made the WORST class pick possible. If you picked druid to “be all you can be…go army” then you made the right choice. We are like an army when it comes to utility.

It only gets better! Feral Druid DPS gets insane with the right gear and talents. I can out DPS most players in my group and when the going gets tough i can OFF tank, Heal, Battle Rez or send Innervate to Healer. Ive already on several occasions saved the raid group from wiping ( Through Heals, Off Tanking, Battle Rezzing the right player) but whatever floats your bubble.

to remain competitive the feral Druid has to spend all the time farming that stupid weapon from gnomer

At level 50? Nah, they don’t get any worse. Don’t get any better either lmao

dude why are you trying to preach the usefulness of druids to me im not anti hybrid class my posts have been pointing out how they will not beat a pure in mainline roles which is what the person I first responded to was implying go back and read it.

the implication of what they said is that druids are the best healers and tanks at T1 this is a false statement. if they had said they are the best healer/ tank among the hybrids I wouldn’t have cared but that’s not how they worded it.

Sir you have bin misinformed. Druid get most of their tanking bis in AQ. An AQ geared team going into Naxx is going to have ferals tanking the progression bosses. Well the smart ones anyway.

False how?

To take a look at logs, bears tanks are way more represented than warriors are considering the relative population of each class.

Druids are superior offtanks, at least currently. They generate the snap aggro that is missing from warriors, and they barely take damage. Their weakness is level 63’s/bosses, but that’s why you have two warrior main tanks.

If Druid is annoying you try Paladin with the two button rotation.

LMAO You live in a bubble then. Or you assumed every druid that healed you was Resto.

I don’t know what will happen when I hit 60. But right now when my opener crits, nothing can beat me. Even when it doesn’t, I still do very well.

Its a matter of play style. I wont be raiding much so I am building this guy to be a DPS & heals support role.

If you are having a good time playing a character, what does it matter if they top dps charts.

I’m new to the game, but from what I’ve seen on YouTube, twitch, and in game, pve in this game is ez to the point of monotony.

It’s funny reading all the posts about how they will only take this or that into raids and then watch a video of people doing 40 man raids with 20 or less people.

Having fun in a game does not have to = doing best mathematical damage.

I’d say for some it’s more fun beating these raids by gimping themselves with “meme” classes.

It’s all about what is fun for you and the people you play with right? Or else what’s the point.
