Does blizzards Policy update in regards to boosting affect wow classic / BCC?

Blizzard recently updated their policies to ban boosting in retail it seems, as per

Does this change affect Classic and BCC as well?

If it does I have a question about the line regarding “non traditional services, including those offered for gold” how does that affect tanks charging people to tank heroics is that still allowed or not?

I’ve posted this in other places. I don’t believe it would ban that behavior. When you are acting as an individual, you’re not acting as an “organization”. The most common thing I believe it would ban certainly would ban GDKP runs.

It bans Escrow services; which fundamentally is what GDKP is

An escrow is a service that fundamentally, holds something - until such a time when it needs to be released to the rightful owner. When you hold a GDKP auction; that’s essentially what you are doing. Your master looter serves as the "escrow" - a trusted party to hold the loot until payment. You’re holding the BoP item in escrow until such a time when the rightful owner has been revealed (the highest bidder) - and then releasing the item upon successful payment.

Your ML would function as an escrow, and it is a gold transaction. In my eyes; this is a banned behavior.

Either way - if it got out of hand enough; the “non-traditional services” bit would probably anything Blizzard deems ‘unhealthy for the game’. This probably includes things like deathrolling advertisements and Trade Chat advertisements for "casinos"

This would probably also stop things like "Okay, I’ll buy a WoW token, sell it and give you 200k gold in retail for 200 gold in Classic

Usually, when they make a change like this (for example the input broadcasting software change) it goes across all versions of WoW. So probably.

However, tanking services may fit into this:
“This policy update does not restrict individuals or guilds from using the provided in-game tools (“trade channel” chat) to buy or sell in-game items or activities for in-game currency”

They seem to mostly be going after the cross-realm stuff… companies who sell on multiple servers etc. We’ve all seen them.

That was my other worry, about gdkp runs. it will be sad to see them go if they are actually banned because they are a great way to earn gold if you don’t need anything from a raid.

They also provide an easy environment for Gold Sellers to thrive.

Good riddance.

I run a lot of GDKP’s and would love to see them disappear. With them gone we would hope to lose 30 to 40% of the population on these mega servers. So many bad players in them it hurts.

Boosting as an individual selling boosts is still doable.

It’s the people who made it a company across multiple realms that this change is targeting.

Basically if you are not selling boosts 24/7 and on multiple realms with an organized group, you will be fine.
