I always managed to do the Dawn dungeon with 30-35 fps by setting almost all options to low. But today I noticed a considerable drop in fps, when the boss or mobs cast some magic my fps went to 10-15. What could this be? Is it true that the internet can interfere with fps? As far as I know, the internet only interferes with MS, but a guy who was in my group said that the drop in my fps could be due to the internet.
Donât think it would impact FPS in this type of game because the game itself isnât being streamed, only the data. Poor internet is mostly going to cause normal lag/input lag. FPS drops are more than likely all on your end.
FPS (framerate) drops are almost always because of CPU or GPU resources being taxed, very rarely will slow or laggy Internet cause the framerate to drop, but it is possible.
if you run a DPS meter and have not set it up to delete data, try that. purge baby, purge
Like mentioned above FPS is based on your system speeds, graphic settings, and memory.
Whatâs your systems specs? What kind of addons are you running? Etc.
One big thing Iâve noticed lately is the amount of people are using an onboard graphics card which will share resources with the system itself. Your 8gb of ram is going to be primarily used up by the OS itself and barely enough to run WoW yet alone a dungeon.
If you are using details increase your reportig delay. Its default is extremely quick and it is a huge cpu burden.
Probably âSpell Densityâ in your graphics settings. Your PC is underperforming based on your graphics settings.
I have 8GB ram
But last week I did this dungeon and everything was normal, itâs just today that Iâm having this problem.
Yes, yes it is. Internet speed and stability can always screw with FPS.
In addition to Internet bandwidth can screw with you too
Each one is saying something different. -.-
Itâs a true statement, just not relevant to WoW.
start saving for new computer. 35 fps in a small 5man dungeon isnt great to begin with.
(i would consider it unacceptable)
if it was fine before and now it isnt id start by cleaning the dust off. maybe somethingâs gathering heat and then things throttle down.
Internet speeds can cause âbufferingâ when loading game textures and such in always-online games. If your internet is having a particularly bad time that can be an issue.
However it also depends on your GPU and CPU as well. I run my computers at around 4/5 presets and the game is generally fine, it does dip a bit when accessing TWW zones but nothing unplayable.
Only 8 GB of RAM can also be an issue if you have to load a lot of assets. By itself Windows 11 eats about 4GB of it, and the other 4GB can very well be taken by WoW. If you run out it will start to struggle trying to cram new assets in.
Hard telling in your case, but those are some examples. Generally after 2/3 hours if Iâm playing WoW restarting the game can help with performance hiccups.
I use Windows 10, my CPU is âIntel(R) Core⢠i5-9400F CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90 GHzâ
GPU âNVIDIA Geforce GT 1030â.
But I didnât have this bad fps the other times I did this dungeon, this is happening today.
Hm, does sound kinda low end for TWW, but youâre saying it wasnât an issue before. Give the system a good restart maybe?
Windows in general is notorious for running scans and updates in the background, regardless if the user wants it or not. If I keep Steam open in the background and it decides to download an update and I miss it, my performance turns into a PowerPoint simulator.
Iâd try a restart and see if that helps, or maybe lowering the in-game settings to something youâre still comfortable playing in.
Thanks.
Close the battle net?
Yes, you can also go in settings and change to auto close after you launch the game.
My fps keeps going to 15 when the boss or mobs cast spells, but now Iâm no longer having the crashes that my game used to have, my screen would eventually freeze for a few seconds. I didnât experience any freezing on this last run I did. So your tips help me, itâs much better now.
Itâs below the minimum requirements to run the game. Consider yourself lucky that it works at all.
