Does anyone here understand gaming performance?

Because of the GPU?

Do I understand gaming performance??

Uh, if the LED lights on my case don’t tell you I do, maybe this shifter I have attached to my GPU’s and wideputs does.

Are you playing on a computer from like 2005?

I bought this computer about 4 years ago. It was what I could buy.

8 GB is hilariously low.

But isn’t 8GB the minimum requirement to be able to play wow?

Yes, as in, it runs.

At >0 fps.

This is a very low end pc combined with 8gb of ram in 2024. Your frame drops are definitely to blame on that. Wow is a cpu heavy game, and 16gb is the bare minimum to run mostly anything nowadays. I think it might be time to consider a new pc be it pre-built or something you put together.

Also, the definitive info on your internet affecting framerate is that it doesn’t. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise lol. It’s your pc hardware.

You’re right, 8GB is the min required. I’ve noticed since the last major patch of Dragonflight and on with TWW the game lags super hard anytime there are more than a couple things going on. Superbloom and Dornogol, specifically. . . And I have a high end PC and GPU.

Keep in mind that the 8 GB minimum assumes that pretty much all of it is available for WoW (or your operating system or other unavoidable overhead). If you have your web browser open in the background, voice chat, other programs it can get eaten up pretty quickly.

Yep, I consider 16GB today the absolute bare minimum to run games. 32 is preferable. Also, WOW technically does not support mechanical hard drives anymore…it will still “work” but it’s not suported and SSD’s are highly recommended.

While that system might technically run the game for now, it’s going to get worse every patch, as pretty much everything is below the minimum.

Also things like addons that most of us take for granted probably won’t work well on that system if they work at all. The additional load from, even things like DBM are going to cut into already low FPS.

You might be able to buy yourself some time by adding additional RAM and getting a better GPU (even a 1050ti would be a massive upgrade). But the platform that CPU runs on is dead at this point, so motherboard + CPU + RAM + GPU + probably power supply also is going to be required sooner rather than later.
