Does anyone else have multiple of the same class? why

Ive got a few of a few classes, usually its because ive changed realms or factions, but sometimes its because i hadn’t played a class in a while and find it easier to relearn by levelling so i just make a new one, then go back to the main when i get better.

I do, I have like 8 Shadow Priests. Why? Because while SP sucks and Blizzard hates them, I like playing them.

Back in the day I was against it because leveling took a lot longer. To me it always seemed like a better use of my time to level a different class when leveling an alt.

Now that leveling has been made so easy I am rerolling lots of different classes in various race combinations I’ve always wanted to try in the past, with a real intention of getting them to max. This is especially true for mages, rogues, warlocks, and paladins, whose playstyle I enjoy the most.

I’d always had repeats of some classes on different realms, but I never took them seriously. They were just eyes into those other realms more than anything.

I have 8 hunters and six warlocks. Why? I like hunters and warlocks.

Just one for each faction. If I tire of a race my character is I just delete it and make another one, I don’t pay for that nonsense.

I have 2 warriors, 2 paladins at 60, then one 60 of every class. Plus some extra lvl 50s of Warrior, Paladin, DK also, rofl. And all that can be a goat, are a nearly identical looking Draenei, so I never get confused about who ‘Waggle’ is.

Multiples of an armor type are useful for collecting transmog at least!

I have multiples of every class. My primary reason for this is farming for mogs, mounts, and pets. I am an alcoholic, for sure.

I have 8 monks (1 for each covenant on horde and ally)
Why? I eff’n looooove monk.

Like many of my fellow nerds I have 1 of each on both Factions, and a few extras here and there.

Because I enjoy being a bear. Now excuse me while I check to see if you have a locking lid on your trash can.

Well yeah I’ve got multiples of a few classes. Let’s see I got a paladin on both sides, got a hunter on both sides, a rogue on both sides, two warlocks and one on the alliance so yeah a warlock for each spec because I just got tired of enjoying my character one way then boom huge nerf oh well time to go to another spec… just annoyed me so much. The funny thing is I got 3 DK but none are blood, two are frost and one is unholy and rocking the necrolords plate armor. I may have a bit of an altaholic tendency but I see it as experimenting with things as outside two of my horde locks none of my duplicates are the same race so they’re not working with the same stuff. Oh i also got two priests on the same faction but one’s a tauren since Cata and the other’s a vulpera. I also got a mage of each spec ^^;

I do one of each spec that I like. I am not carrying gear for each spec since secondary stat priority are not the same at least half the time. Plus, my bags are normally mostly full so don’t need more crap I’m not using at the moment in there.

I have something like 5 or 6 hunters for some reason. I have one of each spec and then I have a Sylvanas look alike, an engineer goblin themed one, and a Darkfallen/Dark Ranger BE. The last three are only when I’m in the mood for a themed toon which isn’t very often.

With the DF talent tree, I can make multiples of the same spec now and kind of make them play different but not enough to actually make me want to play multiples of the same spec. The talent tree needs more diversity and the ability to allow players to have multiples of the same spec and make them play COMPLETELY different.

EDIT: Last time I played multiple specs on only one toon was back pre-2012. Back then I would have my PvE specs and then my PvP specs. Hunter was MM for PvE and old survival for PvP. Man, I miss old survival. And for warrior I did fury for PvE and arms for PvP.

I have multiple warlocks.
Sometimes its just fun to level a new one.
And play with different races.

I have 3 of each class except for priest, which I have 7 of as of right now. Also another set of each class except hunter and DH that I stopped leveling in the 40s-50s because DF is about to launch.

I just like leveling, but for actual endgame gameplay purposes I usually had multiples of whatever class I was maining so that I could keep my main for seriously pushing rating while playing whatever with whoever on alts.

From Cata-WoD it was actually insanely easy to gear your PvP alts at the same level as your main, especially during the times when you just needed 10 wins in any bracket to cap. So having multiple geared mains of the same class wasn’t really hard and let you do things like I said above.

In DF I plan on leveling at least 3 of my priests and actually playing them, unlike SL where I only played one character of whatever class in endgame content. PvP gearing looks really easy to keep up with for alts again so I’m very excited about that.

Kind of going to be starting that for DF. Mainly for itemization and vault purposes. Got tired on my other priest of having to choose between raid, key, and PvP gear in the vault. At least this priest will only be for PvE so I just have to choose between raid and key stuff. Classes I enjot multiple specs of I’ll also just have a toon for each spec. I honestly don’t know what kind of power and progression systems DF will have, but seems easier to me to have 3 mages focused on their spec than 1 mage trying to have stuff for all 3.

I can’t do duplicate classes. Feels like a waste of effort and I would hate seeing it on my character select screen.

The only time I’ve kinda-sorta done it is when I rerolled from WRA to Moon Guard, I started leveling a Paladin (when I already had one on WRA), fully intending it to just be a time killer that’d get deleted halfway to cap like most of my leveling alts did. But I had fun with it so it made it to cap and I ended up maining it for a bit.

But it’s a bit different when it’s on 2 different servers. I still wouldn’t want to make a habit of it though.

For me, I usually have a different spec for the different factions.
The exceptions to this were; DH (I only do dps, however, I did have them choose different paths in their intro), Priest and Monk (I only have one of each as they only have one dps spec).

As an altoholic I like to make characters that have a theme to them. Their xmog, the spec and even their mount are chosen and selected to make them as appealing to me as i can with a bit of story mixed in there.

Its what I enjoy doing in the game as a lot of armor sets look particularly good on certain characters. I have my 50 character slot filled, have at least one of each race (Althugh I do seem to have a majority of orcs and Dwarves haha) and I will level them all eventually and they will look good doing so!

To each their own of course, every has a different way to have fun on this game.

I have a few copies, one Horde one ally. Two druids, two hunters, two DKs. The rest is one of each.

I’m going to answer this with a post on another thread…

Levels have changed since then.
