Does anyone else have multiple of the same class? why

I’ve been asking this question for years, I personally do. I have 4 paladins, 2 horde ones and 2 alliance ones. Just simply because I love the idea of sub classes and thematics.

only or 2 i’ll gear at the end of an expansion.

But like, i feel like generally with each class race combo is a subclass or thematics they touch on slightly.

I keep wanting to make race class combos because aesthetic “coolness” is important to me. For example. I have an Orc warlock, but i also have a void elf warlock, but also a troll and a goblin warlock. Simply because I like the idea of what sets i can make for them. and it’s a struggle to decide which one is an alt i want to commit to.
Does anyone else struggle with this? How my character looks and the “lore” behind the class fantasy along with the gear looks are just super important to me.

Generally have one for each faction

I did the 4 paladins so I can have one in each covenant back at the beginning of Shadowlands, just so I could flex between characters if need be. Three of them no longer get logged in anymore.

I figured out I want to main a shaman for dragon flight, so I’ve been playing a bunch of different races to see which one I like the most…now I have 4 level 60 shamans and I’m thinking of making a fifth

More chances to farm Armor mogs per week if that’s your thing.

3 hunters. This lady, a dark iron, and an orc.

Dark iron for asthetic reasons, the orc to have one on the other faction.

I made a shaman a Mag’har orc. but before they added all those extra tattoo options for Regular orcs. So now i feel like i should have just a normal orc.

But then Zan Troll with mythic burning throne from legion set is absolutely fire.

I used to have 6 max level warriors. I only have 2 now.

This guy–who is exclusively a forum toon now-a-days–and the prot warrior I actually play.

I like warriors.

I have 3 of each class except Evoker. Currently have 1 of each class to 60 and 12 classes at 50 on Alliance side and then 13 classes between 40 and 60 on Horde side.

I like leveling. It is relaxing when there isnt much going on. No good reason for the 12 at level 50 other than they used to be “the main alts” but they’ve worked themselves out of rotation due to having race diversity.

The Horde ones are going to be the next to work on when I get a chance. Probably get them all to 60 or something like that. Potentially going to do that the next 2 days but we will see.

Ahh so you know my struggle :sob:

on the active, undeleted character list on my main bnet WoW account…

6 druids
7 hunters
5 warlocks
3 death knights
2 mages
3 Monks

…and my gobln rogue which was my very first main i maxed

also lots of stuff on the deleted list

Yes… Because factions and servers exist.

I have one of each class on horde and alliance. I have characters on the Moon Guard Server I used to level all of my Heritage Armor Races. Warriors, monks and hunters mostly for the ease of leveling.

i got tons of hunters shamans and paladins and like 4 warriors bout the only thing i find fun and why i have so many on my 2 accounts.

A couple of reasons.

  • It’s just easier to keep track of. “This is my Elemental Shaman. This is my Enhancement Shaman.” Also helps me with keeping track of gear. Especially when you start throwing in things like legendary items. I barely played Shadowlands, quitting the first week of the first raid. Still ended up with 5 equipment loads for gear in that short time. Not even considering Talent loadouts.

  • RP reasons. Usually just personal RP rather than actually typing out a story. Adds a little extra that I enjoy.

  • Mog runs. The more Shamans I have, the more chances I have at getting the pieces I want for a transmog.

  • Different servers. I only play on two servers and mostly only on WrA. But, I do sometimes play on Moon Guard. They’re both RP servers.

  • Kind of because of factions. I spend at least 95% of my time on Horde. That just means that the little time I do spend on Alliance is going to be on a class I already have on Horde just because I have everything on Horde already.

  • Different races. I think it was Legion where they moved from racial animations in favor of class animations. This led to weird animations such as Pandaren Shaman looking evil while casting. But! They still have unique animations such as melee finishers. It’s not much, but still a slight difference that can be fun to consider. I think races can have different approaches to the same class even if they play the same. Kind of falls under the RP I mentioned before.

Those are the reasons that first come to mind.

I have multiple characters of all classes… Except Evoker, I didn’t bought the expansion so far.
Hum, I can’t really think of any particularly reason for that. Probably is just for play on different servers, different faction.
Ah, yeah. Mogs of course xD

yes, but they all are just the same toon as far as I’m concerned.

class changes from x pac to x pac make me reroll just to get the ways of playing…

I have 4 Tauren Warrior and 4 Tauren Druid

Things I like about having many of the same class:

Easy setup with everything fresh in the mind. I can go through all 4 of a class and make sweeping adjustments to many characters very quickly and easily and retain that information quicker and play better faster.

Easy mog hunting

RNG protection. The very first week of S4 heroic raid weekly cache, one of my 4 warriors rolled a 291 weapon. He is the one I geared up first. Have a much better chance at a strong start of the season with a preferred class.

Yes for three reasons.
1.) I love tauren and HMT so I wanted every class they could be to max level.
2.) Mount farming.
3.) To have 1 each of the other races for heritage armor.

All my toons are level 60:
3 Death Knights - Tauren, HMT, Orc
2 Warriors - Tauren, HMT
5 Paladins - Tauren, Zandalari, Human, Dwarf, DID
14 Hunters - Tauren, HMT, H Panda, Goblin, Forsaken, Vulpera, Mag’har, DID, Nelf, LFD, Gnome, Mechagnome, Velf, A Panda
2 Shaman - Tauren, HMT
3 Evokers - 2 Alliance, 1 Horde
3 Druids - Tauren, HMT, Kul Tiran
2 Rogues - Tauren, HMT
2 Monks - Tauren, HMT
1 DH - Belf
2 Priest - Tauren, HMT
3 Mages - Tauren, HMT, Draenei
3 Warlocks - NB, Troll, Worgen

Yes. Because when I want to farm something I’m not screwed by lockouts and I already know how to play the class well.
