Do any of my other demo bros think it’s kinda lame that the spec is being designed around taking vilefiend? I’ve always hated it as a button and avoided taking it where possible. Maybe I’m just a smolbrain, but I don’t like the extra gymnastics of working it into the tyrant setup or implosion cycles. It just makes the rotation feel less smooth to me.
Am I alone here? Is VF beloved by demo locks worldwide?

Same. If anything, I wish Vilefiend were a permanent secondary guardian that was always active alongside your main pet.

As much as BM hunters have two pets they can talent into, Demonology should have a mastery node that allows one primary and one secondary that doesn’t necessarily get their ability but can provide some type of extra assist/dps

Rotation is smoother now that cool-downs line up.
As for Vilefiend, I didn’t actually miss it when it was essentially obsolete, however, that you can now make them Charhounds, I’m quite looking forward to having them back in the rotation.
I used to like it when it was fire school. They made it shadow and I get locked out of other spells now. Can’t use it to bait a kick. Lame.
I think Vilefiend and GFG together are clunky, but there’s a build right now where a jacked vilefiend just replaces GFG, and it’s currently our best-simming ST build on beta.
It’s amazing to play. You just send vilefiend instead of GFG into your ramp and it absolutely pumps.
Vilefiend itself as a 30s cd used to be whatever, but now that it’s starting to hurt more I’m enjoying it.

I actually think Vilefiend is the coolest temporary summon we have now. It’s up nearly 75% of the time and it has solid interactions with the rotation. This was not the case before prepatch. GFG is the loser here.

I did not take it before because I did not like the demon itself. Now that it can become a Charhound I like it.
I like GFG too, it should be buffed. I guess it will continue to be usefull in pvp

That’s an okay trade-off for me. I can live with VF if I don’t have to also take GFG. Even though it has a cast time it at least lines up well.
That’s how I feel about implosion.
Before the patch I could avoid selecting implosion – as could many others; discovering I wasn’t the only one who wasn’t a fan, but now it’s a prerequisite in the talent tree so you absolutely HAVE to take it …
Honestly I liked how demo was BEFORE the TTW prepatch.
The recent-changes ruined demonology for me.

#Vilefiend / #Gloomhound needs to either have a shorter cast time or be a procced insta cast. If they fix this, they fix the build. BLIZZARD I HOPE YOURE LISTENING.

Vilefiend + GFG ramp has been a mainstay for years. Your post reads like it’s the end of the world that we have to turret for a few globals lol
It’s clunky, sure, but it’s the only skill check that demo has. The rest of the core rotation is completely braindead.
I’m worried that instant-cast VF might be way overpowered in pvp. Vilefiend is fine as it is, and even better if it sims higher than taking Grimoire: Felguard.

I was just thinking if it lined up better with hounds and or had an instant proc like hounds it would smooth things out some.
They are clearly meant to be used together, but holding one for the other makes a clunk mess similar to the way unholy Dks used to play.

With how much casting we have currently I was hoping either vilefiend or tyrant became instant.
It’s getting to the point where every other caster has some built-in mechanic for instant procs except us aside from the dogs which for some reason feels weirdly less often chance now than before.
I used to remember almost every cast I had a chance to get the proc for instant dogs but now is feels more rarer than before.
It doesn’t help that starting back up at the beginning of the exp with lower haste makes casting even more bothersome. It wouldn’t bother me if the new mythic dungeons didn’t have some much movement mechanics.
Yea once you erase all vilefiend talents and buff felguard/imp gang boss/hand of guldan instead Demonology becomes MUCH more fun.

I do not mind vilefiend so much as the animation it goes trough at each summons. The thing is there for what 15 sec? That little roar and prepping to jump on the target eats like 5-6 seconds of the time its there!

Yup the animations the thing waste to get on target is really annoying and that very slow run as well.
I swear id feel like any summon cool down with a temp timer on it should have some sort speed buff for the 1st few seconds so it can get on target asap.
the change to core procs has also really made our rotation feel very wonky. Sometimes you get procs sometimes you don’t. just feels bad.
