Dodge stat completely removed, why?

I’ve noticed that dodge can’t be enhanced or simply ceased to exist now. Enchanting doesn’t give it any more in current or recent expac’s. So what’s the point of having it? Sure it’s still offered in very old enchant trees but you can’t even use it because the item level is pathetically capped to dead-end item level of 50 or less.

Bring it back for god’s sake.

Cuz we stopped listening to Piccolo

It’s still there, just a ‘hidden’ stat and I don’t think you can really build for it anymore.

Rogues still dodge (Evasion), as do BrM Monks, it’s in their class kits.

Tank Druids used to rely on dodge back in the day, but not sure anymore since I don’t play one.

Cuz they wanted to make gearing easier

So everyone uses the same secondaries now, to an extent, instead of having stuff for tanks only

What I don’t get Is why the decided It would be a good Idea to completely wipe out all original stats and duct tape these largely stupid stats over it. Was It design, gearing?

dodge is still a thing. it scales off of most tanks main stat these days though. i think paladins, warriors, and dks parry instead but i know bm and veng dh use it.

Now we Block and ignore mechanics :stuck_out_tongue:

Since we moved away from most procs that gives 100% effect, like hit rating.

Not fun when you survival is either being hit for full damage or not being hit. Same with attacking, not fun when you need to land an attack and it misses, ruining your rotation.

It can be enhanced by gear, but only on bear druid and brewmaster monk IIRC.

Warrior can buff passive mitigation through block and parry, but not dodge.

You hadn’t noticed it was gone in like the last 12 years?

Why would you want an extra stat to stack lol

Dodge is still a thing but just not as focused on anymore. Dodge lowers your DPS.

Blizz decided to go with having blocks and critical blocks be the best way to go about avoiding damage. Blocking as well lowers dps, but a block can be stopped by many factors to include spells and disarming. Block vs critical block. Parry, dodge. Most people dont care overly much about those stats the way they used to.

How many people know the difference between a 40% white damage block and a 20 or 30 one? Or a parry which negates the white damage. Block will take avoid 100% of all incoming damage for that dodge.

Some tanks and off tanks went for dodge. Other than that, most people sought out other ways to be more defensive.

grab the addon ‘deja character stats’ or something like that. it shows a bit of hidden stats on your character panel

For the tanks that still use dodge in retail, the stat that gives them dodge also gives them damage.

yeah…dodge shows on my one Brewmaster.

Dodge is just for brew/bear. The role that dodge fills for those to is occupied by parry on the other 4.

About once a year at complete random i watch my resto druid proc dodge on a mechanic and have a little wow, i forgot that can happen moment.

For tanks they have a pretty decent base dodge or parry and then get bonus to it from critical strike. Brew is the more dodge focused tank so they have a few other talents or abilities to buff it further.

As a stackable stat though, youre better off with vers for a consistent DR; games changed and things hit to hard to have praying to rng be your main defensive. Dodge is a nice bonus on white hits, and brew sometimes has a way to garuntee next hit is dodged but for any other tank mechanics having to hope you get a random proc for a tank buster doesnt cut it anymore, the fail state is death now, not panicking spammy healers (like mop prior which is that last time i remember stacking dodge for a tank)

They removed the RPG from the MMO a long time ago. The game is streamlined to appeal to modern audiences, but isn’t a modern game, so it’s really a weird identity crisis kinda thing. Main thing that keeps WoW going is the SCF of it being the king for 18 years and inventing the theme park MMO genre.
