Doc Nanners Not Delivering Climbing or Cataloging Quests

Has anyone had luck in getting Doc Nanners to deliver the quests for climbing and cataloging? I’ve reached the appropriate renown on several characters, but it doesn’t trigger.

I’ve submitted a ticket in game, and I’ve tried zoning, logging, removing addons, removing addons then zoning and logging, and nothing works. The GM responses I was getting back were no help, and basically they just said ‘we’re not going to help you, go complain on the forums.’

Great look, there.

After you unlock the climbing and cataloguing quests on your first character, it’s account wide. So on other characters, though you may see the Renown level up say “Climbing Quests Unlocked”, you won’t get an NPC to deliver a quest. Those quests are already unlocked and you just need to head to the site to complete them.

Well, that’s not the response. GM’s cannot give quest hints, so any questions about questing will direct you to a site like Wowhead or to the forums to discuss it with other players.

Likewise, if there is a bug to report, GM’s do not take bug reports, nor can they effect changes. So they will also direct you to the Bug Report Forum to report any suspected bugs. You can also use the in-game Report A Bug feature.

That isn’t really what was said, Aellanar.

We have many forums. We have a bug forum, we have a quest forum, we have an achievement forum - here, and General among others.

GMs are severely restrained in what they are allowed to tell players about quests. Even should one be bugged, they really cannot assist unless our developers have given them specific permission and instructions to do so on a specific quest.

Your fellow players are under no such restraints.

You are correct, those exact words were not used, but that’s what it amounted to.

"I’ve taken a look into this and after some investigation, we Game Masters are currently unable to make any changes regarding this. Thus, as much as I want to help you with this right now, this is not something we can do at the moment.

I can, however, strongly recommend you to voice your opinion by submitting your feedback and successfully make it reach the developers. I cannot stress how important this is in order for changes to happen."

Also, please feel free to search for this on Wowhead. Here you can find some additional information and some suggestions/ troubleshooting steps on the comments from other players that managed to overcome this. Afterwards, make sure to leave your own comment as well so you can help future players in the same situation[:]

How is that even remotely helpful?

What I was trying to tell them was that I never got the INITIAL quest when my FIRST character reached the appropriate renown. I wasn’t asking for hints, or help on a quest. I was asking why my FIRST character that reached renown 6 did not receive the quest, therefore, cannot be unlocked account-wide. That’s not a hint. They kept giving me canned responses that were no help at all. I don’t need another player to help me troubleshoot your game, otherwise, what’s the point of even submitting a ticket?

If you don’t like how it was handled, use the survey you received when the ticket was closed out. There are no GMs on the forums. Orlyia and Vrak and other Blues you see here are SFAs. They don’t make the decisions and they don’t forward along player discontent.

Just looking at WoWhead:

Other folks who hadn’t gotten the pop-up quest, it would seem there may be some other ones you need to complete before you are eligible. It’s not just being renown 6. You would need to have quested through the storyline to make sure your world quests are unlocked first.

But then here, it’s saying the pop-up quest is optional and you should be able to go right to Jeb to start.

These kinds of things though, they’re not what a GM can tell you. It’s still considered game hints if you’re missing something that would unlock something else.

Forgot to say, this link is where I pulled this from.

It looks to me like they know it’s an issue, and they would like to be able to help with it, but that the devs haven’t implemented the tools and policies that would allow them to do so. So, they practically begged you to leave feedback where the devs will see it, in the hopes that they (the devs) would then implement those tools and policies.

How is it that not helpful?

This bug is STILL happening btw

Still not fixed.

File a bug report. QA doesn’t take bug reports from the Customer Support forum.

I have already filed an extremely thorough bug report, as have many others. Our bug reports are being ignored, and have been for a very long time now. Blizzard has shown zero indication that this bug is being addressed, so I will post reminders about it because it’s all I can do.

Not ignored maybe not as high as a priority as ud like. That being said your yelling at a wall here nothing said here will reach the QA team leave it in the bug reports where it will be seen which isnt here.

If it is the “A Cataloger’s Paradise” quest that you are not receiving (even after the hotfix on 22 MAY 2024) then be sure to mention in your bug reports that the hotfix is not working for you.

One extra mention in reference to this quest, it is a once per account offer. Alts should then move forward with doing the quests without having to do that initial one.

Non-Player Characters

  • Doc Nanners in Valdrakken will again offer players “A Cataloger’s Paradise” upon reaching Renown 8 with the Dragonscale Expedition.

This is also highly discouraged as you run the risk of potential forum account action for spam.

Thank you, Kyzera! Sadly, this isn’t the bug in question, but I do appreciate the helpful reply. The one in question is that Rock Climbing as an activity isn’t unlocking. I think I’m going to wait another month or so and submit another bug report, as everyone else in this thread is extra cranky about my responses, lol. Much love.

Not cranky just trying to help youve done all you can multple bug reports by the same person wont get it fixed faster.

Lets put it this bugs are triaged what may seem like a huge game breaking bug may only be affecting a small amount of players that will be looked at but there maybe bigger bugs more serious bugs that are affecting a wide range of players like the store bought xmogs that. Took a year to fix.

Just to make sure, Humbungalos, have you visited Pathfinder Jeb in the Dragonscale Basecamp (The Waking Shores) to see if he offers you the Quest Basic Climbing Gear?

Hey Vrakthris! Thanks for checking in.

Yes, I have spoken to Pathfinder Jeb in Dragonscale Basecamp. I’ve checked with him every level up just to make sure but sadly no luck. On my main, I am renowned level 22 with the Dragonscale Expedition and the activity simply is, and never has been available to me on any of my characters despite this.

I have attempted the various common workarounds for this such as switching to war mode and sadly, for months now, it has continued to be an issue.

This is locking me out of certain achievements, so it would be wonderful to see it addressed.

Usually what happens is the character that qualifies for the quest first is the one that has to do it.

If I’m right, that character appears to be your Death Knight.

In Valdrakken, you appear to have a lot of exclamation points calling out for attention, one of those is from Doc Nanners, who has the quest “A Climber’s Calling”.
