Do your alts all know each other IC?

Just curious if your alts know each other IC or are they strangers?

Two of mine are siblings so yes but they hate each other.

By and large, yeah. My friends and I tend to have a ‘mosh pit’ approach to throwing ALL of our characters into events together, where we’ll each be playing anywhere from two to like six PCs and even more NPCs at a time. So alts that don’t already know each other from the start tend to get roped in pretty quick to cover skill and knowledge gaps in the informal ‘team’ who get thrown together to help resolve each others’ various issues with stuff like cults, demons, and old business contacts.

As a result a whole lot of my characters tend to either work directly for Nili here, or get called in as consultants. Some are related by blood (there are cousins, siblings, parents and children) or by old ties from prior to when I played the characters baked into their backstory.

It’s really pretty neat, there’s the cohesiveness of plot and ability to do deep-dives into off the rails individual character stuff that you get in a small group but also the ability to do big battle setpieces with tons of participants like you’d have in a large group. And all of that sets up friendships, rivalries, and ongoing interactions between the web of characters that are all kind of either loosely or closely in cahoots.

So…yes. Mostly. And if they don’t already, it’s usually not long before I’m tempted to rope in any new or old alts I might have into the shenanigans

Many of my alts know each other IC. Many of them are friends even!!!

Of my core alts, yes…all of them know Ash, regardless of faction. Some were trained by him, some mentored in other ways, and some simply recruited to his cause. Their opinions of him differ accordingly, but all include some fair amount of respect. They don’t all know the rest of each other directly (though they tend to know the ones in their faction), and opinions vary though none are inherently inimical to the others.

Not really.
I mean if I do a story piece on a character in an area that one of my alts had been through before, I’ll make a mention of it (bonus points if it was the opposite faction), but aside from small situations (human paladin and worgen warrior both in Stormwind, maybe pass each other), I tend to have my alts all ICly strangers.

Two of mine are a father and daughter, so yes they know each other. The others are all strangers and unaware of each other. Or maybe they all get together and have parties on the login screen when I’m not around idk

Some of my alts know each other well, others are more like very distant acquaintances. Two were romantically involved with each other in their backstory, and due to unfortunate historic events, are no longer together. They have, however, worked together on occasion since then.

No, I prefer my characters to be unique and separate stories when possible.

While distinct stories on their own, Ashandra, Emeshandra, Loshandra, and their mothers Lucrecia and Claudia are all distinctly related. The first three as sisters, the latter two as spouses.

Deriva knows exactly one of my alts and that’s because both attended the same server event IC.

Thought about having 3 toons who were basically multiple personalities of the same character; Warlock, Priest, and a Mage. Would be a neat way to have 3 toons being the same person; never logged in at the same time :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes and no, it depends. My Draenei do but I imagine a lot of Draenei know each other considering the amount of time spent squished together on a spaceship. You may not be bffs but you likely know someone in passing.

However, Juspion wouldn’t know my undead and my undead don’t know Juspion.

Some do some don’t. Kheledormu knows my monk, but not my paladin or hunter. Its a mixed bag. Doesn’t ever come up in game but sometimes i like to write short stories about my characters :]

When I actually think about it, I am not sure that any of my characters actually know each other in-character…

bow chicka wow wow

Neat to know that some players have their different characters have relationships with their other OCs. Outside of my two siblings the rest of my stable don’t have knowledge or interactions with the others. But always open to have their stories intersect. Just hasn’t happened yet.

Great question, Chibisue.

An interesting question that I hadn’t given much thought to.

On my Horde characters, yes. Several of them were in my original guild from my 2005 server, so today, I play them all as one warband. (Literally, I will do 3-4 quests with my main, then log to another, do the same quests, repeat until they are all caught up)

Alliance side, no. None of them have any IC connection to each other.
