Can’t have Mists without Cataclysm so I want Cataclysm in order to get Mists of Pandaria.

Should have an option for both.
Those who want to go back to Naxx in 1 year, go back to Naxx.
I do want to experience all xpacs again, and even with #SomeChanges to address painpoints prev xpacs have experienced. Classic can do that.

I doubt a lot of people are willing to lose all progress on their mains. I certainly don’t want all my efforts in reps/mounts/pets to go to waste.

and on the side note, same was said for Vanilla content - how TBC will suck and everyone was going to go back to Classic Vanilla ---- servers never had more than 100 players at a time.

What you want is inconsequential.

Blizzard will release Cata. There won’t be a trilogy reset any time soon.

I feel that this is the fault of the player base. What I mean is that we all came to classic knowing that it was something extra aside from retail, and not knowing how or when it would end.

Becoming too attached to things like rep and achievements is one of the main things I was prepared for, and instead just play the game for fun and more casually.

If classic ends and all that goes away, no one has any reason to be angry about it, because we knew that coming into it.

Edit- to stick to the topic, I’m fine with either- completely indifferent

I’m a bit on the fence. I’m sure I’d have a great time either way, though ultimately, MoP was when WoW’s aesthetic took an absolutely unforgivable turn for the worse and I really can’t see myself taking that version of WoW seriously. There’s just something about going from the aesthetic masterpiece of Vanilla through Wrath, to having a drunk horde of monkeys threatening to “ook me in the dooker”. That, on top of the shameless ripping off of Chinese history and aesthetics, was a major blow to my love for WoW.

Anyway, I digress. I basically only see these two ways forward:

  1. Reset the “First Three” and either balance/add content, or simply do rolling resets every few years like seasons in Diablo 3
  2. Continue forward for some unknown amount of time and continue “fixing” the mistakes that were made originally (on top of dungeon finder, remove LFR, cross-realm stuff, etc.)

I’d be perfectly happy to do either of these, though I think at some point they will have to resort to #1. I see basically no value in trying to push Classic further than MoP unless they commit an insane amount of resources to completely remaking the game. That’s the only way they could make WoD palatable.

I’m not sure the question even matters. Blizzard has largely abandoned classic already as the massive unchecked multi month botting problem has indicated.

Combine that fact with the idea that whether we start over or proceed to cataclysm, that a significant chunk of the players will quit, and you’re now talking about a population a mere fraction of the size of one blizzard has already deemed to abandon.

Vanilla or cataclysm is imo more a question of whatever the biggest private realm launches.

I would be happy just playing Classic Era and WotLK Era casually. If they add Cata Classic, I would play it though. Not interesting in rebooting characters again for a Classic relaunch.

The reboot was fun the first time since we were 15 years removed from it. A reboot after 5 years… meh.
