I don’t want TBC but it’s ok if they make it later.
If we get horizontal progression I am afraid blizzard would mess it up.
Look at current WoW.
Will they ever make a better mmorpg than vanilla. I don’t know anymore. In 04 to 06 I would of said yes but looking at the mmorpg released. It’s going to be awhile.
I would consider the split of classic/TBC to be the TBC prepatch where the portal was still closed/all tbc content locked but the 41 point talents & class changes were implemented.
Edit: pretty sure that was when they converted %'s to rating as in 1% hit/crit = 14 rating, which was to ensure lower level gear wasn’t better at max level.
i would say release classic tbc but have it be on a different server, so if people want to sink forever in vanilla they have that option
i don’t think they ever need to go to wotlk or the other ones however, if they do they should change the design philsophy to how it was for vanilla/tbc
What to do with classic servers after say 2 years?
Some options:
Reset said classic server- full character wipes
“Progress” the server into a TBC expansion
Leave them be but provide fresh classic servers to progress on periodically
Leave them be but don’t provide any new classic servers
Does that pretty much cover it?
(This is going to be fun for Blizzard to figure out especially since no one wants CRZ or sharding. )
My idea:
Have the resetting servers like you just said. But have a number of stale servers that never move forward or reset. Allow players to either go into a BC server or one of the stale Vanilla ones.
That really depends.
I mean if I resubbed right now, I kid you not, I have a lvl 1 paladin with most of T2 judgement set mogged(minus hands, feet, belt and wrists) and a level 1 mount that goes 70% instead of old 60%. On said paladin I can and will be able to 1-2 shot almost every mob around my level.
The amount of QoL changes made to the game has gotten so ridiculous.
Also. No need to visit Class trainers, or even open spell book! When you level the spells just hop out of thin air onto your bars. And you have access to every single spec your class has by the push of a button to change.
I’ve been trying to tell him this ever since he showed up on the forums advocating for this system. He won’t listen. He’s convinced that he’s right and we’re wrong.
He refuses to acknowledge that there are certain facts about private servers that make their data inapplicable to Classic.
1.) Private servers are usually frequented by people who either a.) Just want to play Vanilla so pservers are, until Classic launches, the only means they’ve got of doing it or b.) play on them because they’re free.
2.) Private servers only have one realm type – PVP. There are no PVE or RP servers, so automatically their demographic is limited.
3.) The only people playing on private servers are of the progression-and-progression-only mindset, a.k.a. hardcore players – ergo, the ones that NEED constant progression in order to stay invested. Classic will, ideally, have those PLUS casual players. Casual players tend to play simply because they’re having fun and want to hang out with their friends and don’t generally give a damn about progression. They also outnumber the hardcore players, last I checked.
He’s basing his claims on a certain, small portion of the community that would never be satisfied anyway.
LIke @Thundathys), most of you who make this argument forget that TBC was a whole new expansion whose existence mandated technical changes to the previous expansion’s game play. When you expand an MMORPG, all aspects of the previous expansion must necessarily change. In the case of TBC, the TBC expansion changed forever the gameplay and feel of Vanilla , e.g., TBC made the Vanilla end-game irrelevant.
The approach to take with Classic is to cap character levels at 60 and add content as patches, not expansions. This ensures that the Classic end-game remains relevant. In the case of Classic, as it happens, the content added need not be new content but rather content that was originally planned for Vanilla (e.g., Kara, Hyal, Stormwind Vault, Dragon Isles, etc.).
that would be great for classic wow and bad for retail.if the next expanion is as bad a bfa yes i think it will be because m+ is an esport and will be in the next expansion if classic went to tbc classic wow would take over.
