Do you need to use fire blast at all?

As an Arcane Mage? I’m having trouble finding a place for it on my bars. Will it make any difference if I just leave it off?

I haven’t done arcane yet but as a frost mage I use it if I need to run.

It does more damage than a regular lance.

Your confusion is very fair considering Arcane Mages got the short end of the stick of useful cross-school abilities, but honestly who needs em. Praise Aluneth.

Anyway, Fire Blast is useful in some niche situations that make it worth keeping on your bars as it is an instant damage spell with decent rage that does not consume Arcane Charges

Use it:

  • When repositioning but do not want to expend charges
  • To destroy totems and other 1 hp destructibles
  • When spell locked out of Arcane as an offensive spell

Can’t say the same about Frostbolt. Only really useful when spell locked. It doesn’t do anything that we don’t already do better. Should have been Cone of Cold.

Short answer, is depending on the content that you do, yes, I would key-bind that ability.
