Cause honestly i dont know when to use it… feels like completely out of context. Cant use it as a filler and it is 10 sec cd…
Class fantasy
That’s about it really, worse than Arcane Barrage. Its mostly there so you can look at it and…I think that’s it? Press it during the 2secs Arcane Barrage is on cooldown?
You use it when you can’t use Arcane Barrage. Yes, for example during the very small cooldown of Arcane Barrage, or while you have to move with 4 Arcane Charges and don’t want to lose them.
… but yes, that is no big advantage. A small one.
If you get locked out of the arcane school, say in pvp, you can use it. Take it off your bars if you’re that upset blizzard is giving you abilities. I for one love it as frost, same with arcane explosion
i am not upset bro i am asking. Your answer about arcane lock is a good point, though the dmg is kinda crappy and its 10 sec cooldown.
I really dont know how arcane feels right now personally so I cant say how fireblast would fit into your rotation. Probably just to finish off low hp mobs. and useful for when youre interrupted like i said. I would just keep it on your bars off to the side in case you need a quick instant damage spell. I think its cool that casters are getting back some spells from different specs. Used to be so frustrating getting locked out of a magic school and not having anything else to use lol. Now if only they would make the audio effects better for mage spells ;(
I may keep it on a bar for destroying NPC shaman totems. I figure that will likely be the only time I use it as either arcane or frost.
As frost I don’t even have it on the bar… it’s a 10s CD for like 380 dmg compared to using Ice Lance that’s spammable at 283 dmg and can cleave for well over 420 dmg and if you get a sudden FoF proc it then just hits like a truck.
Fireblast needs to trigger some spec-specific trait to get used within rotation or needs to have some form of utility pushed into it (stun, knock-back, something).
My thought for using fire blast as frost is if you have a FoF proc you don’t want to waste on a totem. I never liked using ice lance on totems throughout BfA when I’d rather slam that FoF into the mob for full damage rather than the cleave damage.
It is more interesting than mana gem or the two buffs they removed shortly after the unpruning, but it is not by much in my opinion.
completely worthless spell. Same with frostbolt. Also, did we REALLY need mana gem? Couldn’t we just get more passive mana regeneration instead?
Cool spells to add would have been Arcane Orb or Nether tempest… something flashy.
agreed. There should be some mechanic to it. Trigger somethin, i dunno
Frostbolt is great for pvp man… in arenas it is going to see a lotta use due to the slow.
When I first saw frostbolt, I was like, whats the point, I already have a slow that has a higher percentage. But now you can COMBINE them. Your enemies ain’t going nowhere.
Also fireblast is cool, if a bit redundant. Just another instant. can’t hurt at all.
I have it on my bar so I can use it when I’m moving and don’t want to drop my charges. I imagine it could be good for explosives too, but I dunno if It does enough damage or not.
Use it when you’re locked out of Frost school or when you’re out of on-the-move DPS options. Also good for tagging stuff in world PvE since unlike Ice Lance it has no transit, it instantly tags the thing you use it on. Or use it for stuff that literally has like 1 HP but is annoying (like those random totems some Shaman-esque enemies spawn).
Fire blast is useful.
- Use it as a spell reflect
- Use it to finish off a low-hp mob
- Use it for totems
- Use it when locked out of a school
It probably has uses in PvP. For PvE I don’t see it having much purpose, at least for Frost. What I’m curious about, is if AE will become part of the AoE rotation for Frost (eg: Blizzard, AE if no FoF).
As others have mentioned, Fire Blast has a lot of potential utility as a cheap instant damage spell.
It’s Frostbolt that sucks. Cone of Cold would have been better.
I have it bound but probably not going to use it. Only time would be when youre locked out of magic school or if you’re really jammed up in arena. But, it doesn’t fit arcane playstyle at all.
You can use it in PvP to stop a flag cap or stop a healer from drinking. It’s a ranged, instant cast spell that’s not on your primary school of magic, that has no travel time. It’s definitely useful in that regard and worth having on your bar.
interesting ideas… thank you.
