It’s annoying as hell, like they’re basically calling you a hero left and right and kissing the ground you walk on-
-Yet you’re also doing menial tasks for people at the same time, lol. Like collecting berries.
Probably only 30%-50% of your time at any given moment is doing actually “heroic” stuff.

Nah. For me, that got irreparably wrecked with BFA’s launch. Beforehand, while I never RPed or came up with character backstories, I’d at least try to think of the setting through the lens of the character I played. Now I just feel ashamed of myself for ever having done so, in any game. Maybe I’d have enjoyed BG3 more if that didn’t get in the way, but meh.
I just feel annoyed whenever WoW tries to acknowledge my character as meaningful nowadays.
I feel like a loser wasting his time and money when I should have done something else.

Honestly? Yes.
Like, people keep wanting us to be just random adventurers, but we solo kill entire armies every time we decide to go do some World Quests, and that’s not the level of power to be expected from some nameless nobody.
Those who want to be nameless adventurers should just lock exp and stay at level 1. That will give them the level of power and recognition they desire lol

It probably beats the alternative. “Hey, nobody, go waste time killing this thing, ok thanks, now scram!”.
