I’ve been copying from icy veins, but I find it’s not as fun as making your own. Guides will often forgo QoL talents for something else because of marginal dps gains.
How do you build your characters?

Copying from WoWhead. I’m putting zero brain power into this, lmao.
Always my own builds. Rather be suboptimal and completely understand all my talent choices than be a cookiecutter type player.
I go with whatever sounds fun, regardless if some super computer says its a 0.05% decrease in efficiency.
Shockwave and Shield Charge build. Is it viable? Is it worse overall? Does it even make sense? I dunno but it makes big numbers and stuns stuff.
I have 14 level 70s, of course I’m gonna copy from Wowhead or somewhere else.
I’m not gonna theorycraft for 14 toons.
I use builds I find them change a few things to make it work for me and my playstyle.
I’ll create builds as a level through Chromie time but occasionally adapt some PvP builds and add some of my favorite abilities.
I look at builds on subcreation.net and choose my talents based on what M+ dungeon I’m doing and what mechanics it has or what affixes are current
I switch around cause I’m not doing anything serious but eventually go back to cookie cutter. Why would I want to make any group content pugging worse even low stuff?
I’ll usually wing it for leveling, and then copy find a guide and copy it at max level.
Then after a while I’ll tune it to my specific needs.
I mostly copy from other sources, though I tend to tweak some things based on personal preference.
Honestly, I am just not that interested in talents as a system. I know some people love it and are thrilled to try out new builds, or change talents for every occasion, but personally I am happy to pick a build I like and then ignore it forever.
I make my own, especially for my healers.
I’ve greatly missed talent trees being like they are now. I hated it when they pruned them back in… err… start of Cata or whatever? idk I like having to think about how my character plays and what I need to do with it.
I ignore guides. I pick what I like and adjust as I play if I find I have a skill or talent I don’t like or don’t use for whatever reason.
For the most part, I do my own builds. Pre-made builds aren’t really needed for the content I do.
100% custom builds.
I read guides, and look at their talents and justifications for using them…then go make my own build. I like to change and test frequently as well.
Start with the guides, they exist either because its a strong build or had the numbers crunched to be a good build then adjust it on your own to how you’d like it to play.
Playing a sub optimal build optimally will almost always outdps an optimal build played unoptimally.
I care about performance so I use simmed builds from top end players.
I will majority copy my build from Icyveins and get rid of the dumb stuff they for some reason think I should have in favor of other things I know I will use… Like Enh shaman had a recommended talent for spiritwalkers grace or something? (could be wrong, I literally never look at the skill tree after hitting max level) Hard to remember examples cause I nose chuckle and get rid of that garbo
For group content I copy other builds, and for world content I change to whatever I want.
I made my own build for the spec i enjoy the most, it was a ton of fun. It was trash, just garbage dps, but i really hate the meta for that spec.
I ended up completely switching specs and pretty much just copied the meta.
Pretty big disappointment to be honest.
