Do something about boosting

kind of a side note, but an addon called Prat has recently added a search feature…create a new window, call it “lfg”, and only subscribe to LFG channel…then when you’re wanting a group, search for “strat ud” in the box and Prat will dump out a list of all messages matching that string (case insensitive) into that window.

It’s incredibly handy

Maybe just don’t touch it.

Boosting exists because leveling is cancer.

And with all that wisdom of old age you haven’t figured out what a myopic viewpoint is?

It is lame welfare leveling and both boosters and boosted should wind up on non-booster/ed ignore lists in perpetuity.

Seeing something for what it is isn’t myopic… it’s realistic.

Only on a high-population server.

I play on 2 servers: a hi-pop one and a lo-pop one.

On the low pop server, the LFG channel can go HOURS without even one person selling a boost. They are very rare.

On the hi pop server, boosts are common.

So if you don’t like them, you should play on a low-pop server.

I mean bruh, I remember boosting being a thing in classic. I know I had a mage in my guild that could 3 pull sm cath. The only thing that’s changed is that the strategies have gotten more advanced and widespread and efficient. There was a whole YouTube channel dedicated to boosting in wow using a prot paladin (mostly in tbc though).

Either way, no one is forcing you or pigeonholing you into a specific mode of play if you want to quest, then quest. I am leveling a warrior and a rogue right now and haven’t been boosted through a single dungeon and they are 40+. I also haven’t had trouble forming my own groups for dungeons or elite quests (actually it’s been very vanilla like waiting for 3 hours to find enough players). Play the game how you want to play it and dont try to force others to conform to your preferred playstyle. Maybe that mage has fun 1 pulling cath and armory and gives them satisfaction and brief moments of glory.

Do something about boosting

No, do something about entitlement.

I wonder how pro boosters would feel about Blizzard adding a dungeon finder tool to classic

Where is “the spirit of the game” in ToS and what rule are they breaking? I can gaurente you that if I couldn’t boost I still wouldn’t group with you. Id solo level because it is what I prefer. Banning boosters won’t magically give you the group you want. If you want easy groups go back to retail and enjoy the lfg. Or make your own instead of blaming others.

Funny that the guy promoting doing absolutely nothing to level is telling others to go back to retail.

Im just stating the obvious, against the spirit of the game has zero quantifiable meaning. It seems the main reason people hate boosting is the dificulty they personally have getting groups to do things so they need an outlet for the butthurt that flows strongly through them. If you read my whole comment I also stated Id rather solo level, and do just that when I dont want to spend gold on boosting. Regardless I wouldn’t be grouping with most of the players. I am not the only one that has a strong dislike for the whiny playerbase and thus prefers anything I can do solo except with my guild. Nothing there against the ToS or breaking any rules. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it wrong. It makes you entitled to thinking people should be grouping with you because that is what you want.

Boosting shows you how players feel about classic leveling - it isnt satisfying. Endgame content is what draws people to this game. Sorry, but boosting isnt cheating, it isnt unfair, it isnt against the spirit of the game. I love and will solicit anything that circumvents levels 1-59.

And that is the great thing. If you have leveled once the long way and don’t want to again you don’t have to. Or if you are more casual you can take your time and quest.

Imagine there’s no boosting
It’s easy if you try
No xp with 60’s
No cheesy carries to buy
Imagine all the people running dungeons normally

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one…

specifically, they need to create a blizzard-owned nonplayer-controlled chat called “lookingforgroup” and let people report boosters in this chat and have people spamming lookingforgroup perma banned.

The game is unplayable without having global ignore list installed, with the right filters.

I can solve this problem myself, by making a new channel called lookingforgroup2, spamming lookingforgroup to let people know to join my channel and leave lookingforgroup, and ban people spamming lookingforgroup2. But it’s just impractical to expect me to do this 24/7 for free.

This is what it was at the release. And then almost a year into the game the meta has changed. Adapt and overcome or disappear. Only options.

You mean the one that already exists? The one that can be joined and accessed through the configuration panel of the chat box under “Global Channels” literally called “LookingForGroup?” The one that’s literally a system channel?

Why in the hell did everybody adopt the stupid private server meta of using /world and /lfg? The chat channel that is not controlled by one singular user already existed and has since launch, and you idiots don’t use it and completely forget that it exists.

Barring the extra nonsense of banning people from the channel (why don’t you just convince the owner of /world to ban everybody if you’re so keen on banning people), it already exists in like, 66% of the way you want it to function.
