Do random BGs scale?

Just a side note, I’m a casual pvper. (Sorry to offend I’ll take my filthy casual butt out of this topic, I just have a question) I remember hearing about how in BfA they wanted to scale gear and item level and such so it wasn’t as big of a deal in battlegrounds. Some of my guildies even told me gear isn’t something I should worry about in random BGs, though I was a little skeptical of that. On my shaman, I leveled through random battlegrounds and did just fine, and usually my damage was on or around the top, as well as my DPS. Once I dinged 120, I hopped in to check out what they meant by scaling, but I didnt notice anything different. My ilvl was the same, health was still a shabby 66k, and my damage and DPS was very low on the board. A stark contrast from when I was 111-119.

Now I’m not complaining, I don’t mind farming up some gear I was planning on it anyway. I’m just curious what they meant by gear scaling cause I never looked too in depth into it when I first heard about it. I didn’t notice any scaling at all, so could someone give me a little insight to what they meant by that? Or if it’s not even a thing? Thanks.

Basically, scaling allows a low ilvl/hp player to do damage that scales up depending who they hit. A high ilvl player will have damage scaled down depending who they fight. If there was no scaling, you’d be one shot at this point.

Okay yeah that makes a lot of sense. I did 1v1 a rogue in that bg and came out victorious. Thank you!

yep yep! you can basically just vendor all gear you receive after you hit 120 and keep your quest blues and greens cause its all about scaling now, gear doesnt matter :face_with_hand_over_mouth::shushing_face:
